So as many of you I have been addicted to the plastic (and metal) crack for many decades and over the years have built many different armies, sadly some are gone now or mostly gone but with fond memories

So here is some of the love

3rd/4th edtion 40K

5th+ 40K

the emperor /30K

super heavies

epic scale 40K (using 8th ed rules with halved movement/ranges FTW)

BFG

forces of valor

Wow, that really cool. I am intrigued by the epic using 8th rules also, I always wondered if playing 8th at a much smaller scale would make the game much more approachable.

Really fun looking at those armies evolve over the years. thanks for sharing.

using 8th actually works quite well.. for al the reasons I hate not having facings/templates/dangerous terrain in 28mm to bring out the immersion. it actually makes epic scale play work. something as simple as halving all the weapon ranges and movement distances also makes for quick conversion.

The nice thing is that you get to use models you would never normally use (or afford to buy) because the table isn't big enough to make it worth using - like thunderhawk transporters, skyhooks, various artillery pieces making use of their full ranges etc...

also loosing units doesn't hurt nearly as badly as they do in a 2k game. like "oh no I lost a baneblade" good thing I have 3 more. and the mini only costs $10 each.

As it always has been explained our normal 28mm games are effectively one small section of the battle line. epic scale is the entire line.

here is a battle of tau facing off against my marines...and I was running 6 full units of inceptors. happy times.

Mine are also mostly gone now too, really regret that I didn't keep them.
Back into the hobby after a long break, sadly don't even have photos of some other armies I painted.
Here are some I had photos of, and the year they are from.

2011 - Warband of HectOrk the Brutal

2012 - Dark Eldar

2012 - Legion of Everblight

2013- BA's

2013 - Imperial Fists

2019 - Black Templars

I have to apologize for many of these older photos. They are most obviously not recent and most of these armies (pre 2016, with the exception of my Blood Bowl team and Necrons, are long gone). I also don't have army-photos of many armies I've done along the way (which is a shame, there were quite a few good ones).

I have a couple of Guild Ball forces I still own, fully painted (Butchers, Fishermen, and Morticians) not pictured here as well. I should take pictures of them at some point too.

OG Space Wolves (2001)

OG Necrons (2003)

Cowboyz (2010)

Vampire Counts (2008-2014)

Necrons (2012)
This army has actually been largely repurposed; the walkers were re-equipped and re-painted into my existing Necrons, as were most of the Immortals and Scarabs.

Space Wolves (2010-2012)

Death Korps of Krieg (2012)

101st Airborne (FoW) (2013)

Tau (2013)

30k Ultramarines (2015)
My OG first-painted model also makes an appearance; I do still have this guy!

Yu-Jing Sectorial Force (2018)

Necrons (2018-2019)
There are 3 more walkers, another Spider-Stalker, Sentinel, and some heroes I'll be adding to this army in the next month or so.

Mollog's Mob (2019)

Legio Xestobiax + House Aethergn (2019)
This is actually missing 2 Warhounds and 2 Cerastus Knights

Lamenters (2019)

Legion of Grief (2019)

DV8...................... to quote pam from the archer TV show "holy $*#% snacks!!!!"

here I thought I spent way to much money, well I can't really fault you though a regular at out FLGS has every tau model in 28MM except for the tx 42, orca, and manta. and he has another 20K worth of epic scale tau.

Those are some seriously great conversions and display tables. I see you got the necron millipede how is he game play wise?

great to see all that 30K, if you don't own stock in GW you should LOL

I left out a few more pictures because I posted them in other topics but here are a few more of my armies. or parts of them.

Also so much fantasy, most of the local fantasy guys who didn't go sigmar use their minis to play kings of war. , and all those titans are from titanicus right. you didn't seriously buy al those full scale?

I mean, I won't do the math, because it's probably higher than I'd like, but spread over the 20 years I've been in the hobby, I think the aggregrate spend isn't obscenely high either.

The Sentinel is a hot piece of garbage, but it's a cool model and I own two because they're hilarious in casual play.

Age of Sigmar is my jam; I definitely prefer it to 40k. And yes, those are Titanicus scale. You can see a Namarti Thrall to the right side and Shadespire card packs to the left as well. How big would those things have to be if they were 40k scale lol.

Yeah my bill is in the thousands just for 40k, last rules I saw for the sentinel was when it was first released the rules back then looked pretty cool, but yeah it does have the rule of cool factor.

I am guilty of that as well. when choosing factions. I play khador simply because of clam jacks and the gun carriage. same for haqqislam in infinity I love the original djanbazan minis as well as the mughariba guard. of course.

Here are some of mine.

Probably my favorite Dust Battlefield army that was built to really make the best use of rangers. It actually made Able-Baker-Charlie tactics work which surprised me.

Most of my German, Soviet and Unites States Bolt Action armies.

My Japanese and USMC Bolt Action armies.

My American Revolution Armies.

My most current Space Marine army.

I am fan of historical and a casual American military history buff. Years back I liked to put together historical narrative games using accessible (read: modern, easy-to-learn) rules and have both sides for the battle involved treating miniatures war gaming as more as a really pimped out board game experience.

It started as a Raptor Chapter kill team for a friend of mine to use when we played Kill Team, but when I decided to make a full Primaris only chapter, I didn't like like idea of them being Raptors since they would also have first born and decided to create my own chapter.

So this is the Avenging Eagles chapter who started as marines who fought with Guilliman during the Ultima Crusade including at Baal where some of the Blood Angel survivors gave them their chapter name as they swooped from the skies to deliver the Emperor's fury upon the Tyranids. They don't know for certain who their Primarch is, but self-research points to them being from the 2nd Legion (one of the lost legions).

I like to think of this chapter being what the Raptors would be if they were Blood Angel successors instead of Raven Guard. Like like Assault weapons and their signature unit is the Reiver.

It might be a small army, but each model is a work of art in of itself. Truly incredible work.
