I don’t know if this is the right section.

I thought I’d post my first attempt at modelling a hill for my tabletop.
As you can probably see it is a piece of Celetex with expanding foam on top, all of the scree is the pieces of foam that I hacked off the model when shaping it with a bread knife. The waterfall is cheap two part apostrophe resin from Poundland. The paints are all leftover pots, mixture of cheap acrylic tubes and match pots of emulsion. Painted Black to start then 4 increasingly lighter greys and white to finish, in an ever increasingly dry brush technique using a 2” emulsion brush.
Had to buy some white paint, everything else was left overs, so cost me £1,20 to make.

Thanks guys, it is more of a challenge than I thought making surfaces that the figures can stand on whilst still maintaining a natural and interesting looking outcrop with a sense of scale.
Amazing how those 40mm discs are so big when finding something to stand them on and so small when trying to add interesting features to the base.

looks great & very game-able (ie good to use in a game without models taking headers)

That's quite a convincing piece of terrain. I often find it hard to find the right balance between good-looking and playable, but that seems to be the perfect mix.
