Morning Dakka,

I have a weekend free of family, so I’m wanting to take advantage of setting my own schedule. I thought it would be fun to see how much I can get done. I still have normal weekend stuff to do; shopping a bit of DIY, F1 to watch so I’ll be fitting in painting around those and stripping a bunch of Old Marines. As such, I’ve got modest aims, namely to finish my Blackstone Fortress Escalation Chaos Cultists, here’s where they are right now;

They’re just at the primed stage. I’ve also got a few other minis primed hiding behind them, you know, just in case I somehow manage to finish the cultists before the weekend is up!

If anyone else wants to join in reducing their pile of shame feel free to post your plans and how you’re getting on. No prizes, just encouragement to paint and model!

Happy Painting!

No weekend painting goals for me, but just wanted to say good luck. It's nice to have these rare opportunities!

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts

Thanks Whittlesey40k, it really is a rare occurrence, helped by today’s work deadline being a success! A few more hours then I begin the painting!

And the first layer is on!

Dawnstone on their robes. I decided that their boss would join in too. The traitor guard are the templates for the scheme

I should have a quiet weekend myself. Hopefully I can wrap up a few old things and get some progress in on the new.

I hope to put the hours to good use Mothsniper. Good luck with progress on your quiet weekend Nevelon, would be good to see how you get on.

Steady progress for me so far, skin layered

Mental note to self: Don’t do this colour again, elf flesh and bleached bone are horrible paints. Mixing them together doesn’t make them any better!

Onwards to purple pants!

Thanks Marxist Artist. I’ve made good progress tonight, got the green accents down (forgot a pic) and just done the drybrush with Bleached Bone. Now do I go to bed or give them a wash?

Today’s chores and DIY took quite a bit longer than expected and I REALLY HATE Boltgun Metal, so progress has been slower than I’d have liked. Finally done it though! Washes next then bed, hopefully still on track if I can do a bit in the morning before collecting family from the airport

Thanks for looking!

They’re starting to look like painted minis now. After the purple wash I picked out the gold trim on them and of course their Chaos Stars. Wanting to be able to do some highlighting in the morning I figured I should do the Agrax Earthshade wash before bed, and now it’s gone 2pm and I’m posting progress on Dakka

They are looking great. Are you optimistic about finishing today? They look close to finished.

Thanks for this thread and good job so far, though I don't have a 'free' weekend I'm waiting on a Model to be delivered and would probably have wasted the time in between surfing the net, watching TV, mowing the lawn and other unproductive activities
But I decided that a small chaos impulse buy I made some while ago needed some love, on Friday these guys were still in their boxes but hopefully by tomorrow they should be about done, though I did get side tracked on the sorcerers face

Sorry, I didn't even notice your models. I was too distracted by your painting handles!

Are those paints still in action, or just empty pots?

I don't really use them anymore but they are still active, hear lots of people complain that GW pots go off, I used my pocket money in 1990 to buy that Bronzed Flesh and its still usable!

@Jamesy, I’m hopeful, highlights tend to go quicker for me than blocking out, and I’ve not got much to do around the house today.

@ Maxwin, glad I inspired someone else to get stuck in! My blends won’t be quite as nice as yours, but finished minis is my aim! Great job on the Sorcerers face, really cool!

@Whittlesey40k, I moved my ancient paints to droppers too. The old ones are still pretty decent, it was the Bolter she’ll screw top ones that didn’t survive.

Finished the first highlight layer, I did the painful one ( old paints! ) first and got the skin out of the way. I’ve not got too many colours on them so not much more, it’s the Bosses green flames that make me come unstuck!

At the expense of watching the first 40 laps of the F1 on my phone I’m calling my Blackstone Fortress:Escalation Chaos Cultists done. They’re probably not going to win any painting competitions, but they look decent enough. I didn’t have time for proper photos, so a quick phone snap will have to do for now. I’ll put proper pics up next here next I get my Camera out. I ended up having to sacrifice the updates for the last sprint to the finish. Thanks for coming along for the ride and good luck or Maxwin finishing his Chaos minis too

Wasn't really a goal, but I painted all the bare heads of my world eaters kill team at various times this weekend. They've been sat as bare plastic for about a year in my cabinet.the rest of them probably won't get painted for ages but at least the heads are done!

@JamesY, thanks I’m pretty happy to have smashed out a squad in one weekend. They’d probably take the best part of a month at my usual rate!

@queen_annes_revenge, always good to progress. I’ve enjoyed today sneaking in a bit of painting time between chores. It’s a good way of life!

Oh and I meant to say that the bases on all my Blackstone Fortress minis are plain black at the moment whilst if figure out what to do
