Hey I’m painting an Alpha Legion army but can’t find a solid reference as what colour the off bits cloaks , bits of tattered cloth etc should be .

I did these guys red as there going mark of khorne so it made sense but for un marked units what’s the consensus??

Also looking for basing ideas as I want to go above slapping some texture paint in the base and calling it a day.

For unmarked units I use a tan/khaki color on the cloth parts, it contrasts nicely with all the metallics.

For bases, I used to do sand, paint over it and then some flock in the spaces the sand didn't cover. It makes for a nice sparsely vegetated look.

I have picked up some pumice gel though that's been much better for basing.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

thanks for the input. Tan/khaki sounds better than the grey i was thinking originally ( and works well with guard minis as im going to convert cultists)

looking in to the pumice gel what grade do you use?

Definitely agree that grey wouldn't work, it'll blend in too much with the metal.

I use coarse pumice gel, it seems to be about the right consistency.

I suggest painting some black dots on the ends of your gun barrels to simulate a hole for the bullets to come out of.
