So I assembled this before painting it and now I can’t easily get to the get bit under the hunched over chest to paint it. You can see it at the right angle but not from the side or above.
Would you leave it?
I might just put a wash over it if possible to add extra shading but I suppose as the cowl is white then grey just look a bit like a shadow on white......
I saw a painting guide by a really good model painter a few years back and she said one of the first things she did with any model was to paint any hard to reach areas black. That way as you come to paint if the area proves really hard to get the brush in properly its likely a very shadowed spot of the model to start with. So if the brush won't fit you can just leave it very dark and most viewing the model will just assume its naturally dark from being overshadowed.
For models with a dark colour you could easily adapt it to a base coat of the main layer over the black - the key was that it was basically the first stages when it doesn't matter if there's a little overspill and such.
I'd wager on the model you show above that would work fine.
