Okay, so discovered I have a problem.... Evil just looks so good. Have a bunch of Moria stuff, and it turns out that what I bought into is highly competitive... the vanilla Moria Goblin list and the Moria Legendary Legion have been reported as being REAL strong, and well... both my buddy and I are just buying into the game.

Bought The Fellowship and their mounted versions (if applicable) for the times I "need" to play Good haha.

But! After doing some reading, Lurtz's Scouts looks like tons of fun to play. I know Ugluk's Scouts is considered better, but the movie scenes of Lurtz and the Uruk Hai attack on The Fellowship are just so cool to me. How does this Legendary Legion do in casual play, and is it something fun to play against?

I've been playing Isengard for years and after trying all of the legendary legions I can defiantly say that Lurtz's scouts is fun to play with. You might not always be guaranteed a good result but its a really fun army if you're looking to run up the field very quickly with F4/S4 Uruks and hacking stuff up close and personal. I've found Lurtz to be a good leader and the special rule for the shield and heroic challenge are really cool especially as you're a fan of that seen in the movie. Supporting hero's are good too its just the single troop choice that's the only problem but scouts can hold their own in combat so its not that bad. Vanilla Isengard will always be the best but I still enjoy using the legendary legions for the added bonuses.

Hah, I absolutely love the Uruk Hai in the woods scene in The Fellowship.

Helps that it seems that Lurtz's Scouts are bit of a jack of all trades type force. Quick-ish, hit hard-ish, kind of tough, and have moderate quality shooting. Mainly sharing one profile is a bit of a plus for me. Middle Earth isn't something our group is going to be playing too often, so limiting myself to a force that for the most part shares rules and seems fairly easy to learn is a huge bonus to me.
