Hi all,

A few questions regarding this mini. The chrome is airbrushes so correcting mistakes is gonna be a pain.

1. I like the chrome hair, feels quite cyber punkish. Do you think if I stiple a bit of white on it would look a bit more like hair? Or maybe grey?

2. I know an oil wash would look good in the recesses but I can’t be bothered to make one. Can anyone recommend a good ready made oil wash?

3. The black line in the power armour under the chin where the peices of the model touch (but aren’t touching). Should I try and do something about it or leave it? What can I do about it? I never see these things until there’s paint in the model

I like the chrome alot! I think it might work if you started off with a darker metallic colour and built up to a chrome after a wash? The chrome hair is really cool as well and I think just a regular black wash like Nuln Oil with some stippled highlights would look cool. As for the gaps, you can use super glue sometimes for tiny gaps or green stuff, or liquid green stuff. The liquid I find really useful, but any modelling putty should fill those gaps. You'll want to look carefully before priming for these though.

Thanks, yeah I was too excited to try the chrome paint and rushed a little. This is the green stuff world chrome airbrush paint. They do one that you can brush on but it’s out of stock everywhere I looked so maybe I’ll get that and then fill the gap.

I'm not aware of any ready-made oil washes for sale, but there are plenty of enamel-based wash and panel liner products which are prethinned and can be applied straight from the pot (you'll need white spirits/thinner for cleanup us usual).

My pro tip - don't just go for a "boring" black wash unless it's exactly the look you want, find some dark colour shade that complements your colourscheme. Greys, browns (starship filth ftw!), blues, purples, all can work with the right shade and accent colour selection (unless you are after a 100% monochromatic feel)
