With firstborn units being retired I've been pondering if some of them could be given to other Imperial factions as hammydowns. For example:

Adepta Sororitas/Adeptus Custodes/Grey Knights:
- Hunter/Stalker: Sisters in particular lack aircraft and anti-aircraft, so actually having an anti-fly/anti-aircraft unit would be nice. Grey Knights are marines and thus should have all their options.
- Land Speeder/Land Speeder Tornado/Land Speeder Typhoon: Would give all of these armies some decent fast attack options.
- Vindicator: Gives Sisters an alternative to slowly relying on melee or melta guns for close range damage.

Adepta Sororitas/Adeptus Custodes:
- Land Speeder Storm: Currently can only carry Scouts, but considering their size could also likely take Battle Sisters and Sisters of Silence.

Adeptus Custodes:
- Razorback: Adepta Sororitas already have the Immolator so no need for an IFV there, but Sisters of Silence could use the fire support.
- Predator Annihilator/Destructor: Similar to the above, Sisters have the Castigator now but Sisters of Silence would get an actual dedicated heavy support unit.

I guess the idea is making Sisters of Silence more viable as a support faction for Custodes or a standalone mini-faction. As well as rounding out Sororita and Grey Knight options.

Not going to happen. The rules are removed because the kits are OOP. And if you're willing to use rules for OOP models then why not keep them in marines where they belong?

Love the 40k universe but hate GW? https://www.onepagerules.com/ is your answer!

I think ideally if you created 40k from new you would find niches that each faction is bad at through fluff and game design and ensure the faction couldn't fill those. Like you could say Tau don't get tanky melee units and titanic units except for flyers. Necrons don't get cheap transports or unarmoured units. Leagues of Votann don't get flying or hovering units. Then you figure out the technology available to each faction and try not to make units that fill the same role.

Sororitas not having access to heavily armoured vehicles could be cool. Like if they had Scout Sentinels, Penitent Engines, Land Speeder Storms and that sort of stuff only, of course we all love the Exorcist but that could just be a fortification. Just piling more and more unit options onto a faction does not seem like good game design. Sororitas don't currently have any flying vehicles, giving them a Land Speeder Storm breaks that, for that reason I think it's probably a bad idea. Giving Land Speeder Storms to Sisters of Silence seems like a great idea, the speed seems perfect for such a unit.

Custodes already have Land Speeders and Predators sort of, they're just FW only.

Grey Knights are weird, they don't even have Predators. With how much they played up their teleport shenanigans it seems like they shouldn't have any transports whatsoever, no Rhinos or Thunderhawks, why would they if they can teleport willy-nilly at no cost or risk? They should just teleport explosives right on top of the enemy as an anti-tank solution. Then there is the lore of Grey Knights commandeering Imperial troops, so they'd probably take over 10 Guard vehicles before they take a single Space Marine vehicle because of the amount of Guard compared to Space Marines around the galaxy.

Im all for spreading the use of those kits to more factions, but then marines should still be able to take them

Brutal, but kunning!

Ta’unar and Stormsurge say hello. Tau use to be like that, not anymore. Krootox Riders and previously Knarloc's filled tank melee roles.

Night Scythe has always been around 100 - 150 points depending on the edition. That's pretty cheap for the amount of movement you got.

I disagree. I wouldn't consider rhino based vehicles heavily armoured at all. Anything that previously had AV14 I would consider heavily armoured.

You also have to remember the Land Speeder Storm is quite restrictive in its transport capacity. Basically only limiting its use to 5-6 model Sister squads.

Personally I think Grey Knights should have full access to the firstborn arsenal. They use Thunderhawks as well as teleport assaults. There would certainly be situations they need to bring mobile heavy firepower to bear.

I meant if you were doing 40k over from scratch it'd be a good idea to give each faction an identity by limiting what kinds of units each faction gets access to in order to avoid there being 25 different Assault Marine Sqyad datasheets, 25 different Predator Annihilator datasheets and so on.

In Starcraft Zerg do not get mechanical units, Terrans don't get melee units, Protoss don't have super cheap units. These things stack on top of their other unique qualities, which we could equate to 10th edition faction abilities to make each faction feel unique. Units like the Taunar are a mistake in my point of view, instead GW should have produced plastic versions of the FW Tau flyers or expanded the range of large Tau flyers. Eldar already have mobile mechs and the Stormsurge would fit way better as an Imperial Knight.
