This rendition of Be’lakor reimagines the Dark Master through contrast rather than shadow alone. Instead of traditional dark tones, the painters chose intense
reds,
oranges, and
yellows to express the unstable, overwhelming power granted to him by the Chaos Gods.
The wings act as the visual focal point, using bright gradients and texture to suggest energy radiating outward, while the lava base reinforces this idea by grounding the model in a destructive, fiery environment. Subtle object source lighting connects the base to the figure, enhancing realism and cohesion.
At the same time, darker and more restrained tones on armor and details prevent visual overload, ensuring balance in the composition.
Overall, the painters’ intent was to portray Be’lakor not just as a creature of darkness, but as a being defined by internal conflict consumed by power he cannot fully control.
