If they took the time to change things to useless names and add more paints and they KNOW paints dry fast on their pots ( because I have seen and bought several new pots with already dried up paints inside on diferent retailers before giving up on them) why on earth did they not change the pots? Its a rethorical question because the answer its quite obvious to me...
I only had some washes and one or gw two pots on a collection of hundreds vallejos ( all good and not dried up for many many years) and I liked them so lets see if GW changed that also!
All the changing over the years and the fct others supply with much superior products made me change from full GW paints collections to others... Looking at this thread i feel the need to invest in more P3 and andrea's
I've found ever since threy switch the to new clear plastic pots from the Black tops, my paint don't dry at all any more. Don't get me wrong. Thows black top pots were TERRIBLE for keeping paint in. But the new ones have done allot to address that problem for me. I know some people hate them since they don't stay open, but I've gotten use to it for the sake of pots that seal properly.
I also found the orginal white toppers the foundations came in did not seal correctly and thows paints would dry up really bad also. But after they got rid of the nub on the back that keeps the pot opened, I no longer had a problem with foundations drying out.
That's what I don't get, the washes and, it looks like, the foundation paints have that little tab that, if you pop the lid back far enough, keeps the lid from closing. Why they don't do this on every single pot, I don't know. The clear pots are infinitely better than the black topped ones though, I'm glad they've changed them
uummm.... Did you even read my post?

Not trying to be a jerk. Just highlighting what I've already said.

Thank you for that patronising reply. I'm surprised you didn't include diagrams.
All I was simply saying was that I'm surprised those little tabs aren't on every pot, I really didn't a need red highlighted reply

Huh. That book is a good design; looks like they went with how Testors does their technical painting guides.
That's a Very Good Thing, as my one complaint with the FW Masterclass/Osprey Publishing Masterclasses is that they're big, solid books and really well printed--making one worry that you might damage it while painting. Automatically Appended Next Post: SIDENOTE!

I think it's more for the "utility" kind of stuff. Liquid Green Stuff is considered to be in there, as is the medium that they've got coming.

You know, I'm also happy for DA to be the new poster boys, not that i'm a Ultra hater or anything, but apart from the in jokes about the DA and their 'dark secret' they seem to be one of the 'Grim darknessest' (yep, new word time) of the 40k history and having them featured in the paint set and rumored to be one of the main antagonists in the new box release I feel that GW may be swinging slightly back towards a more mature game and fluff to keep us oldies happy? .... apart from this rather confusing paint fiasco! so what is Devlan mud again?....

If the price for the set isn't too high, I might consider picking it up. Having a wide range of paints for multiple game systems seems like a good thing to have, especially if the GW paints cover as wide a range as we are being lead to believe.

IT'S A TRAP!!!
Sorry for the melodramatics, but it's my default mode when dealing with GW
People were wondering earlier why so many colours, but is it beyond most painters to add white or black to their colour to get a lighter/darker shade?
As for textured paint - just add some sand.
This is one big GW **** sandwich, but I'm not taking a bite!

It's easier to not have to.
Having more colours in the range is always a good thing. Right up until the point a couple of years from now when they decide the range is taking up too much shelf space, and cut the colours that don't sell as well...

I assume by "****" you mean "shark."
The textured paint is actually something that I might be interested in. But it's kind of silly for GW to claim a paint range of 145 when some of them are duplicats (I am assuming some level of overlap between foundations, drybrushes, and textured paints).

As a note, I've gone through and tried to figure out what colors are included in the paint sets.
Starting with the 40k one:
From top left to bottom right and comparing it to the color chart:
Ushtabi Bone
Mournfang Brown
Imperial Primer
Mephiston Red
Athonian Camoshade
Caliban Green
Leadbelcher
Runefang Steel
Fantasy:
From top left to bottom right, compared to the color chart:
Sotek Green
Cadian Fleshtone
Imperial Primer
Mephiston Red
Macragge Blue
Nuln Oil
Ironbreaker
Ulthuan Grey
The generic hobby set doesn't give a clear enough picture of the top two to be able to tell what they are; but the "red shield" on the label seems to indicate that they're from the Base series of paints.
Second row down has what appears to be Screamer Pink, Imperial Primer, and then a Layer paint(Looks like White Scar)
Third row down has Leadbelcher, Macragge Blue, Waaagh! Green, and lastly Balthasar Gold.
