Those BT look GREAT! It's a little much for me (I do like rust, dust and weathering, but not that much... lol) but it portrays the art style in a very fitting way.

Some BT Land Raider goodness. I got my Tamiya bits in today and the theme took it's full form. Now just working on side guns, top hatch and top gunner, and front gun. Then we'll be ready for the rest of the convoy to join up!

I love that Land Raider. So beautifully weathered, and all those bags and sandbags is a very nice touch to it. In a way it feels more realistic.
Can't wait too see the finished model! Good luck and keep ut the awesome work!

Updated pictures on the Black Tamplars. These are after the bulk of weathering has been done.. no details have been painted.

not a fan overall of the bases, but I do love the feel of the army. It definately gives off the impression that they are on a long campaign and unable to return to base for refit, and armor cleaning. Great work keep it up mate cheers.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

I love where you are going with this and it is looking pretty awesome , the only thing is it might be a little too much dust . The effect is nice but it can be easily over done , they might be on a long crusade and not abe to get back for a refit , but they would at least brush of major dust build up on themselves , Maybe they wouldn't really brush down the rhinos and the like . .

Of course, as an American, that means I must say that soccer sucks, and football (real football... you know, the one where you do everything with your hands) is 10,000 times as good. I mean, football players could probably beat up soccer players, even, because they actually know sports.

Love the look, an army which just looks tired, even if full of zeal.

Thanks Guys!

The dust IS on heavy. Think of how black shiny armor would look with months of fine sand collecting. When the details get painted it will not look as bad but I had to make a decision about how something painted black would look in a desert over time.

I have been in the desert for months and you would be surprised where the fine sand collects. Between shoe laces, in pockets that you know were sealed shut. and vehicles usually follow eachother in a line and I imagine the LR would lead the pack so the rhinos would be dirtier. Thats my thought about them

Those sand bags really look out of place, Also what is the thought behind weathering the troops before painting them? Wont that make it hard to get consistent coat on them? Also I think the enlarged scenic bases are a bit much on rank an file troops.

Other than that I love the rhinos, and the theme is nice and unique.

I was also thinking about your art supply store, and the problem it encountered. You could just rename them as supplements, and put in fine print "not for human consumption". Its funny that in the US you can make your own vitamins and dietary supplements with any ingredients you want, and not need any approval, but as soon as you try to market some art supplies....... BAM! Cease and Desist notice on your front door.

Its terrible that I can see the technical skill (and envy it immensely!) but still not love the results. It seems like far too much weathering for months in the field creeping up on Nurglesque parody. WIP is a cruel mistress I suppose.

Yeah it all looks rough now. But I know what it will look like when done. But I like it and that's really all that matters.

-The scenic bases are standard size. They just have some overhang. And I never keep my guys rank and file except for pictures . I spread them out to max so I don't get templated to death. But the picture shows they stand just fine next to each other.

-The sand bags are in place to taking firing positions on top of the LR. Not in game but the ideas were taken from military photos.

-The models were painted black and white then weathered. The process of ripping the paint layers off would kill any other colors like flesh clean off the model.

Trust my thought process. It is what it is through much trial and error.

I also realize that my army is different from the norm. I like to keep it original and realistic. I figure that SM in pristine armor is ok for higher ranked guys but the grunts will be trying to earn their stripes and getting dirty.

I'd bet name& shame on Dakka. Rabid fans will be swarming like tweens at a Twilight book signing!

My search fu is either failing or I have "the dumb" tonight:
Could you detail which weathering method(s) you used prior to the dust on the landraider?

Also, will you be going back to the curved snorkels from the earlier photos or leaving the current exhausts?

While working on the 2 commissions I have had for the past 3 months (10 Salamanders Space Marines 5x vanguard 5x sternguard and 246ish night goblins and both guys have been very understanding about the delay due to the store issues and me being sick ) I need to have little breaks in between paint sessions. The practice as a commission painter is to have a model you really want to paint and set a goal for the day to get to that model. Like I paint 25 goblins, then I get to choose 2 colors of paint to use on my “reward” model not to exceed x amount of minutes. While the commissions are nearing the end so is the “reward” model and enough has been done to where I want to show where it’s at.

So here it is at 80% finished..

Forgeworld Death Corps of Kreig Commissar

Some parts are shiny in the pic as he has not been matte coated yet and those of you that use matte medium or glazes know that it tends to dry with a satin finish. But I figured you guys would want to see him because the model is just fun to paint.
