Sorry bud, they're Green stuffed. You can either green stuff some helmets, or commission someone to do some for you. Like the under the couch guy, for instance. I'd do some, as I've always wanted to do a commission...

might be worth playing with this http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/smp.php
i came up with my 2 actually used chapters this way both have background as wella s one of the others
anyway
First is the Sons of the Snake, a raven guard succesor chapter who specialise in covert ops, very few squad marking tend to keep their colour bland unless in veterancy for camoflage reasons, (commanders also seldom go overboard on the decking otu of their gear)
second is the Blood Dragons, a cursed founding marine chapter similar to the Black Dragons, their home system got systemcially raped by Necrons till it was relieved bya combined force of marines and guard yadyadaya its kind long winded
3rd is the Phoenix legion who are tactical specialist frequently on detachment to other forces (kind of liek how the mentor legion orignally worked)
next ones don't really have much bakgroudn yet
Legio Victrix (Ultramarines succesor)
The Templar Brothers, Crusading Chapter possibly Imperial fists succesor,
lastly the Black Panthers a Iron Hands succesor chapter, with less influence on the body hating part and more on the articifer
if you want to use these feel free, they have hcapter symbols if you really want

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal. |

I'm going to put in a word for Relictors.
The 40k universe needs more Codex Grey Marines, and Relictors have the nice Fluff advantage of being immediately playable as CSM if you should ever choose to jump the fence.

Im new to the forum but as I have just got the bug again after several years of not being able to play I thought I should join and find out how things have changed.
I have a Legion of the Damned Army I built a long time ago and more recently a small but sturdy Catachan force.
Just recently, after reading the latest Space Wolf novel I had the idea of building a small force of my own Chapter - The Storm Crows.
Will try and attach a picture of colouyr scheme from the painter and proper pics later, let me know what you think.

Hi john,
They were originally but looked to much like Raven Guard.
Thought about it for a couple of days then changed them to white. Guess you could say I'm putting the emphasis on 'Storm', rather than Crows.
The banner I painted for my Dreadnought has a Quarted backdrop with a black crow at an angle with the words 'Storm Crows' painted in blood red runes like the space wolves.
I'm aftermore beaky mk 6 helmets but there hard to come by.
Early days yet, only have a tactical squad of 10, a squad of 5 assault, Champion and Chaplain all with jump packs and a captain, oh and the dreadnought of course.
If I can get a hold of a digital camera I'll post some pics.

Thats an immense oversimplification of their history. I don't think many would mind a black panthers chapter these days, there's a superhero named that as well and no one seems to mind.
I like the color schemes for the Black Panthers and Phoenix legion. Phoenix legion especially.

@Ceri: Raven Guard are basically all-black with a little bit of colored shoulder trim edging or white insignia. Having your SC with larger, colored contrast elements in a non-white color would make a clear distinction from RG. Storm Crows could be basically all-black, with perhaps bright yellow shoulders, knees & head? Just a thought...

Hi John,
Heres a little history I was playing with, its not finished but comes across ok and is in keeping with the 40K universe. See what ya think.
The Storm Crows
The Betrayal
The Storm Crows are one of the lesser known chapters of Space Marines though they shot to fame and infamy in just one short attack. Occupying a very small area of space the Storm Crows were very active in patrolling the edge of the Eye of Terror as several other chapters are known to do.
One such fleet, having been on patrol for far longer than usual due to the frequent infractions of Chaos elements from within the Eye, whose return was eagerly awaited by their brothers on their home world of Mendarr, opened fire on their fortress home from near orbit.
Hundreds of Marines and civilians alike were killed in the bombardment leaving the fortress in ruins with barely two walls left standing above ground.
The fortress was far older than the Storm Crows and should have crumbled easily without its shields to protect it but its construction of a superior design for such a small world and it protected its children far better than it should have been able to do.
Of the six hundred marines on the ground and nearly as many civilian support staff, only a couple of hundred civilians survived the day and of the Marines, two hundred were either killed outright or died from their wounds shortly afterwards, many obliterated during the bombardment, their Gene Seed scattered to the winds.
It was due only to the dying psychic screams of the Storm Crows Ancient Librarian Antaous whose last act was to call for help through the warp itself that attracted the attention of a Wolf Priest and so the aid of the Space Wolves themselves, their fleet of ships on route to their own home of Fenris.
Thinking to find a dead chapter awaiting them on the planets surface they instead found the remnants of the Storm Crows alongside their civilian staff digging out their dead and wounded in a determined rescue effort, all covered in a thick white dust thrown up from the ruins that still hung heavily in the thin atmosphere of Mendarr.
With the help of every Space Wolf, not a one needing to be asked and within a few short days the Black Templars as well who responded to a call for assistance from the Wolves, the surviving Storm Crows were freed.
With their future in doubt, not least due to their partial conversion to the side of Chaos, it was the Space Wolves and Black Templars combined weight of authority that dissuaded the Inquisition from declaring them Excomunicate and having the Storm Crows liquidated.
It was at the suggestion of the Black Templars that a new home was found for the decimated chapter among the many empty and unused fortress’ left by the now destroyed Astral Knights.
A small planet was settled on with only sparse vegetation and a thin atmosphere, the so called Iron Rock Fortress on the planet of Bariss. With little of anything to interest anyone else the fortress had only one saving grace, its heavily fortified orbital and ground defences that far out stripped its modest place in the empire. The Storm Crows would not so easily be attacked on their home soil again.
Over the following few decades a few changes were noted amongst the Storm Crows though not even the Inquisition could fault them.
What remained of the Storm Crows became a grim, hard merciless force against the Empire’s foes, making no attempt to take prisoners unless ordered to do so. One other change they made was to their own armour as the original dust came away the Storm Crows painted it back on in white paint. When asked about the change they were told simply it was to hide their shame. Only one shoulder pad was left black as a remembrance to all their dead brothers while their knee pads and belts were died a bloody red to remind them all of their duty to revenge themselves and the Empire on the traitors.

Wow, you've been working on the Fluff, and I like your color symbolism. Though red belts won't really show well.
Perhaps do the entire right arm in red, instead of the belt & kneepad? It'll be much more visible than the belt, especially as not all models have the separate kneepads.

Hi guys,
Can I ask a question?
I am slowly painting my Storm Crows Space Marines and so far im liking them.
Problem is its years since I played and even then not very often, infact I have never actually won a game of 40K except for one with Darl Eldar.
I am going to field a few squads of Assualt Troops and had a thought.
Why cant Assault troops carry heavy weapons, at least one to give them a harder punch? Seems like something a commander would do. Then again with the marines strength and the strength in his suit why can't the Devastator squads just have jump packs?
Sure it has something to do with not making them to hard but wondered anyway.

@Ceri:
Despite what some say, 40k actually does have something of a learning curve, so it takes time to figure out how to win games. If you can get in to a learning / beginner group, you might have a bit more fun. Or have some vets play small (i.e. 500-pt) "fun" games with you to work on rules and strategy.
Assault Marines are good because they move fast. So heavy weapons aren't part of their options list. It has been many, many years since Devastators could take Jump Packs!

Thread is on warseer. They're built on a terminator base, though they are mostly plasticard and greenstuff. Absolutely stunning work.
Man that is some sweet ass marine artwork though. You should throw up a gallery of those somewhere, those all need to be seen much much more
