Runnin up on ya.

Whenever this thread shows back up, it makes me sad because there aren't any new models for me to throw my money at; it makes my wallet happy though.

I really want to see what the Republic faction is going to look like since Mark's Deviant Art concept of them looks great. I guess at this rate it'll be 5-10 years before we get there.

Not complaining just wishing Mark would hit the lottery or something so releases could be faster.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Funds are one thing. But the man can only do design work so fast, particularly if we want him to maintain the high level of quality to his designs.

Like I said, I'm not griping, I just have money I'd lime to shift his way if the Republic soldiers wind up as good as the concept. Based on his earlier comments, I was under the impression that the logjam is on the manufacturer's end and he's got designs ready but they have him somewhere in the middle to back of the production queue.

With enough money, he could create his own production capabilities.. Dreaming here, thus the lottery reference.

Well, Mark did already license 3d work for Elysium Republic mechs a couple years ago. I don't know if he will still want to go with those designs, but they really look good, and would certainly cut down on time to get them in production if he doesn't have to do all the design work on them from the gound up.

I just ran across his Deviant Art page last night and I want to see all of those come to life. The heavy tanks look awesome. I know they were designed for 15mm but they look damn good.

Agnosto, that heavy tank is already in production with Khurasan miniatures for 15mm. It might come out at some point in 28mm.

Jon from Khurasan bought that design from Mark to use for his Federal Troopers line.

Siler Superheavy tank I believe...

God if that tank was available in hard plastic I would have to take out a loan to buy all of them.

Well, like I said above. Mark is thinking about doing one for the Shadokesh and rules release. No telling when that would be though.

I got in on the first kickstarter. If there is another for the Shadokesh I am 90% certain I will be in on that too. Also looking forward to seeing some human Tanks.

I apparently angered the shipping gods - one package is a no show, the other was someone else's order (of some 1/72 Japanese peasants... :| )

No new toys for me tonight :(

...Wow, you really couldn't have gotten a more useless bunch of plastic if they'd tried, for a sci-fi 28mm wargamer, could you?

I do like that Mark has been rather mum on new kickstarter news, I'd much rather not talk at all about a new KS till all items from the first KS are shipped

Nope, BUT! I beseeched the lords of barcode and begged forgiveness for my transgressions. They saw fit to redirect the fedex man to my door and deliver my Mortis

Initial impressions on unboxing: WOO! Very nice plastics, very little flash to clean up. The sculpt looks very cool, beginning construction in 10 minutes

Be very careful! Go over the instruction, look on the DFG site for updated instructions, then go to Youtube and look for video instructions.

It can be a daunting task I'm told. I haven't got the gumption up to work on mine yet. I have a ton of other crap I want to paint up and practice with before I tackle both of my Leviathans.

I didnt find it all that difficult to assemble, but do make sure you hit up the site for updated instructions

The levi's really do go together quite smoothly. Updated instructions are a must; watching what *not* to glue even more.
Be sure to tighten the ball joints on both ends of the spine real tightly - they're never quite as tight as you thought before the entire torso was resting on them
(And honestly, you want the thing moveable at least to experiment with posing before gluing it all down!)

I'm not so interested in the Shadokesh. I'm sure they'll be nice and I'll drop a hefty wedge yet again but for me, I was always looking forward to the Commonwealth more then anything.

I know you guys got a whole bunch of orders in over the weekend, so when do you expect to start shipping stuff?

I think Mark said that what he had on hand at his fulfillment area would go out as soon as possible, then he was expecting a new shipment in March 17th or so for the rest.

I think it would be totally awesome if Mark was able to skip the KS phase and go straight to retail with more stuff. I don't mind KSing things, but it's nice when things directly to retail as well.

I am very impressed with Mark's kit. Everything has gone well thus far with the Mortis build, only found one typo thus far(F9 is referenced twice on step 28 - one should be F6). I did end up breaking the leg socket, which was my fault. Somehow the compression cap wasn't seated on the hip ball joint all the way and fully seated itself inside the leg socket. The ball wasn't fully seated, and thus wouldn't go in all the way. I tried to apply gentle persuasion, and ended up breaking the leg post (DOH!). But, no biggie - I was able to drill a small screw into the ball joint and pull it out, lightly de-burr the inside of the hip housing and re-seat the ball/cap (with some help from heat). Pinned the leg with 3mm round wire and glue. Worst case, he'll have a gimpy right leg and won't want to twist it too much

That was the only snag, and probably a self inflicted one for working so late on it. Hopefully I'll get the Crusader on his next shipment run, and the other company will fix my missing eisenkern list (the Japanese peasants just aren't doing it for me LOL). I have a feeling they'll be just as good as this model, so I'll probably buy a bunch more as proxies for a game I've been kicking around in my head for a few years.

+1 to DreamForge

Edit: I didn't ever see a Mortis updated PDF on the blog site. The only other note I had from my build was on the smoke stacks (stock ones) - parts A3 and B3 feel like they should be reversed. They are slightly angled, so it won't fit flush with all like parts. It's not the mounting depth (I took off 2-3mm to be sure) rather the angle.. It's a minor flaw, and the small gap will be filled with putty to hide the seam.

My stormtroopers just shipped too - so (weather permitting) I may have more stuff to do this weekend

Mark, are the 15mm Capacitor Coolers going to be available for separate purchase soon? I faffed around too long, and never got hold of WGF about those bits...

I agree. The question is whether Mark was able to make enough off the first KS to underwrite new molds (somehow I suspect this isn't entirely the case) or if his relationship with WGF/manufacturers in China might otherwise enable him to skip the KS step and send stuff straight to stores.

How does the Crusader having all the functioning pistons affect painting it? Mainly considered about chipping etc.
