Doesn't a Chaplain kinda do the same thing as the Master of Rites?

Master of Relics I would have thought would have fallen to the Chapters Techpriests as well.

I don't really like the look or intention of any of these.

Not brilliant sculpts. I guess the idea is that they aren't supposed to outshine the Spiritual Liege - or, as the OP says, they just dialled in the models. That said, I'd be happy with them just dialling in models for Sisters of Battle, if it meant we got some-

+1. I really dig the Master of Marches and the Lord Executioner. The MoM is really into his job and has a pimp-cane. Ooooh, the conversion potential. Give him a feathered hat, BAM, Slaanesh time.

The LE, well, what they describe seems true to me. He's just slowly walking, eyes fixed on whatever is going to eat axe. Really like him.

Huh...

Wow they are really...

It says a lot about the state of GW when I am thinking they are bad but with a little converting could be passable, and that makes them par for the course in terms of recent releases.

It could certainly be argued that while plenty of work went into actually making the models the poses and concepts are very, very simple.

We have an assault marine walking forward holding an axe, and three marines standing there.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I don't get what you mean by "lazy" but I admit that they're far from the best sculpts. There's too much detail on these things, I personally can't stand these huge ugly things they carry around on the backpacks such as the vox speakers, the Iron Halo with a Vox built-in for some reason, and a vehicle-appropriate radar scanner. The only one I like there is the Master of Relics, but even then he's a bit too much, I would have preferred some areas more scarce of detail so I can do a bit of freehand or something.

I have noticed though that GW are getting very lazy in their product descriptions. Things like "This model is made from Citadel Finecast and contains a wealth of details", "...he clutches a large double-headed axe and is walking purposely forward" and "detail such as a grenade hanging from his armour". Yes, we can see all these details in the photographs, no need to pad out your hopeless descriptions with this nonsense.

Lazy as in the posing making them look rather static. They sort of feel like they tried to cover up the rush job on these with extra bits.

why do you assume it is a rush job?

Agreed, they are just 4 simple marines with extra crap thrown at them to make them look special.

Those are far from the best SM characters I've seen, but the biggest shame for me is the Finecast thing. If they were metal (or finecast wasn't overpriced crap) I'd buy them anyway...

Pretty boring, I wouldn't buy any of these bar maybe the Assault Marine as he is the only one that is not crazy looking. There's a certain point where too much detail becomes a liability for the model as a whole. I mean, one of the guys is carrying a vehicle radar on his backpack! I'd never think of including something like this on a model of mine.

Only really like the Lord Executioner, but have no use for any of them so its a no from me. Just to much going on like a lot of stuff has been lately.

OOoow. It begins

I’m quite excited about these. The detail and sculpting are great. It’s just the poses which are rather static. I am also not a fan of the boom box on the back of the Master of the Marches. Will be getting them though, then re-posing

So do these guys replace the Chaplain and Techmarine? The Master of the Marches has a very Chaplain-ish pouldron and the Master of Relics job description is basically a Techmarines.
