Anyone think I can dust off my great weapon marauders again? Are there any nice new ways to optimise them/make them worth their points?

If the answer is pretend they're gors/bestigors thats fine too. I'm thinking of getting a box or to to mix in with them to make it a little more acceptable.

With the ability to ambush all your units of gors and ungors, and having scouting brayshaman and scouting harpies and nurglings, along with ambushing flesh hounds, a block of marauders led by Wulfrick really rounds out the "Surprise" army. You literally deploy nothing.

Marauders aren't great, but they are decent when you can pick the right match ups. Wulfrick with his ambush lets you do that.

Sounds interesting I always wanted to use wulfric.
Can you attach other characters to that unit to scout with them? would be nice to be able to take festus too.

Nope, you cannot attach other characters.
But at least you get a scouting level 4 wizard.
The combination of everything scouting and ambushing makes it really hard for your opponent to deploy. If he doesn't bunker up, he's letting you hit one side of his army with your whole army.
If he does bunker up, he's dangerously clustered for the scouting death mage.

Well. I have been thinking about another theory. An army of dudes led by Karios and all the buffs you'll ever need. Scroll caddy lore of beasts too. Horde of MoK Gor with beast banner, Marauders, various other dudes but lots of them, and 2 skull cannons obvs.

When you add a 206 point character in, the whole army plays differently. Considering you could just run warriors with halberds instead, why bother with the beast banner? Banner of the Beast is great in beastmen armies, as you don't have good access to higher strength core. Warriors don't have that issue.

When you add a 206 point character in, the whole army plays differently. Considering you could just run warriors with halberds instead, why bother with the beast banner? Banner of the Beast is great in beastmen armies, as you don't have good access to higher strength core. Warriors don't have that issue.

S6 halberds. That way they can take on knights and whatnot.

This may be an even better idea. But I really like the idea of a Fateweaver buffing crap troops with the best augments.

Eh. It's so expensive though. You're looking at 17 to 19 points a model, with a 206 point character (more with marks). When you come down to it, it is a M4 death star. Do those work for anyone?
