I decided to pick up Gremlins as my new faction. I got the LE Rabbit and am oping to grab the LE Wiskey Golem. So, on topic, I'm liking the pigs. I'm thinking about getting a nice big bunch but need to know which master/crew is the best to use with them. Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert on gremlins but from what I understand Ulix is the best option if you want to go all out on pigs. For gremlins as a whole I think Somers is probably the most generic master to start with with regards of what fits in the crew. Don't know anything about Wong, Mah and Ophelia seem to be a bit mroe focussed on their respective crews.

Ulix is one of the strongest masters in the game and works entirely around pigs and Slop Haulers.

I would hold off on the Whiskey Golem (I'll explain why).

General Gremlin auto-gets:

Slop Haulers (they come in a box of 2 and you'll be hard pressed not to take 2 every game.), why? Well they're 5 stones and have 5's for all their stats. They have reckless (hurt yourself for +1 ap), a 2ap that lets you heal most of the gremlins/pigs around you, and can drop the defense on models. They work in every crew.

Burt Jebsen and Gracie. Gracie can haul Gremlins around and Burt does tons of damage while also passing it off to Gracie, who basically never dies and can easily reactivate.

Trixibelle. Mah Tucket's henchgirl. Insanely good scheme runner and pusher.

Lenny. He can summon piglets, push your guys around, and is immune to conditions. He also gives out free rams to models, which makes the Lacroix's insanely OP.

Merris Lacroix is a molotov cocktail and scheme runner for cheap.

So if you want to go Ulix, start with his box (out soon hopefully), Gracie/Burt, 1 or 2 boxes of Piglets, Slop Haulers, 1 or 2 Warpigs, and eventually, the Sow (summoning, 3 headed piglet of death). You can summon, you can beat things down in melee, and do just about everything.

As for the Whiskey Golem, he's really not that great. He needs another AP (Sparks or Brewmaster) so that he can get his defenses up and still beat face in melee. Otherwise, he's rather lame, unfortunately.

As for the other masters? Ophelia is like Perdita on steroids. You'll get more damage, more maneuverability, more healing, and better defenses...on cheaper models.... Yeah. She's that good.

Som'er is a summoner/support master who can dominate you with card control and out activate you. You don't need insane models when you have 20 Bayou Gremlins.

Brewmaster is good for debuffing and can be fun, but is pretty meh.

Zoraida is another control master and works well with Brewy's crew, but isn't that popular.

Mah has a couple shenanigans, but you'll be hard pressed to choose her over another master.

Wong is solid. He's as explosive as Sonnia, but can still line up his cards perfectly.

Ulix is your man, and if you like pigs be sure to grab him.

On the pig theme, Gracie is a tank. She will do damage, cause a huge headache when she heals herself, and with Burt Jebsen, bring others into play to bring the hurt. And a Hog Whisperer is another pig-related take.

Pigaput is always good fun as well, and taken with Lenny who can provide plenty of ammo, it's a dirty trick. But that's gremlins!

Pretty sure you forgot to mention Francois in that list of models!

As for Wong, he's not just about blasts. He utilises Burt well. He uses trixibelle to get the initiative, the assistant to line up his cards, Burt to group the enemy together and then he blasts it all.

Malifaux masters owned: Guild(Sans McCabe), Outcasts(Sans Misaki), Arcanists(Sans Marcus)

He's okay and a nice model to pick up, but I don't care for them too much.

From what I've heard the Whiskey golem is bad in most Gremlin crews, it's designed for Brew master but doesn't really fit with him because he has better ways to give poison around.

If I recall it's supposed to be best with Zoraida because she can obey it and get some extra AP out of it to slap people.

People hate on the Whiskey Golem, but I have a hard time disliking something with Walk 6, nimble, weak damage 3, and the possibility for Flurry.

It really needs fast or an Obey to shine so it can flurry and still keep its defenses up. Otherwise, McTavish, Mancha Roja, Lenny, Burt, and/or Gracie are better choices. And when the Sow gets released...Mah help us all...

To be fair, depending on how competitive your area is, you could always just use the Whiskey Golem for the sake of using the Whiskey golem. Being sub-optimal doesn't make it outright worthless. If you think it's going to accomplish a scheme or strategy for you, go ahead and use it.

Okay, I've got a bunch of pigs but no Ulix yet. Gotta wait on him. :(

Till then, I've got Burt Jebsen, Slop Haulers, Hog Whisperer, Gracie, Piglets, War Pig, LE War Pig (Easter Bunny), and a Pigapult.

Anything else I need aside from Ulix?
