'astartes shield:the bearer has a 4+ invulnerable save'
does this count the sergeant only, or the whole unit of assault marines? Like, does the whole squad get that buff or only the sergeant?

'Awsum' is the highest rating I can give something based on quality. Example: I would call it an 'Awsum' AWS-8Q instead of an 'Awesome'
Yes-Close To The Edge is the best song of all time and I'll virus bomb/PPC anyone who says otherwise

Only the model with the shield.

It says "the bearer has a 4+ invulnerable save" So The Bearer of the shield has this. If the whole squad had shields they would also get the 4+ But I do not know if the whole squad can take shields, I think it is just the Sgt.

Thanks everyone, I understand now. I assume this also applies to models with enhancements with similar abilities. Guess there isn't really a point to taking it now, I don't even have the bit anyway.

Yes enhancements that specify "the bearer" only effect the model with the enhancement. For example if a model has The Flesh is Weak only that one model has a Feel no Pain of 4+.
There is a point. If an enemy unit successfully wounds your unit with an attack that has an AP of 2 or greater then allocating the wound to the model with the shield will give it a greater chance of making a successful save.
