Just wanted to see what everyone played and the size of your fleets. I was organizing my models yesterday and made a headcount of gothic ships. I have all Imperial, and it totals a 96 ships/forts/stations with 2 unassembled cruisers, and I'm in a current trade for a Ramilies Starfort. Edit: I made those two ships into an 8th Lunar and a 2nd Tyrant. I also change the Blackstone layout to the imperial setting of the arrows. Didn;t add any turrets yet. (1 future ramilies starfort) 1 Blackstone fortress 2 Emperor-class battleships 1 Retribution-class battleship 1 Apocalypse-class battleship 1 Vengeance-class grand cruiser 1 Mars-class battlecruiser 1 Overlord-class battlecruiser 1 Jovian-class battlecruiser 8 Lunar-class cruiser (2 are the Minotaur & Lord Daros) 2 Tyrant-class cruiser 4 Dominator-class cruiser 4 Gothic-class cruiser 2 Dictator-class cruiser 6 Dauntless-class light cruiser 12 Falchion 18 Sword 18 Firestorm 11 Cobra 3 Transport 1 Armed Freighter 1 Space Station Tomorrow I should be done trading and have 100 models. Schweeeeet. What are your fleets composed of? bjorn

Well then, you had some money to burn. Here is what I got. A Tau Fleet. I would have gone with Imperial but from what I understand that it is one of the most used fleets so I wanted to do something different. Also for the fact that I don't like that Imperial ships have most of their guns in fixed arces. The Tau don't and have torps that can make a free 45 degree turn in the ordenance phase. 2 Heroes 4 Merchants 6 Messengers (a Must for Tau) 6 Defenders 1 Explorer (230 point sink for 750 to 1300 point games)

My Chaos fleet is composed of: 1 Repulsive - Bringer of Despair (largest ship I run, period) 1 Styx 1 Hades 2 Murders 3 Devestations 4 Slaughters 4 Carnages 6 Idolators 6 Infidels
As people can infer from previous posts, the escorts rarely see the light of day.

My new Imperial Fleet consists of: 1 Emperor Class Battleship 2 Overlord Class Battlecruisers 3 Dictator Class Cruisers 4 Dominator Class Cruisers 1 Gothic Class Cruiser 6 Firestorm Class Frigates 3 Sword Class Frigates 30 Fury Interceptors
I wanted to go Space Marines, but I needed a fleet quickly, and we don't have an Imperial players in my group. I'm amazed at how many points I've gotten for the money that I've spent.

Gothic are small models per game. Well think about it the lowest point cost for a ship is 30 points for a weak Cobra. Compare to around 6 per guard and 17 for a Marine. Crusiers are in the 100+ range, the Dauntless Light Crusier is 110 points with and Dominator topping at 190. Thats why I love Gothic, you have to think about what you are doing for you have so few ships on the board at one time.

At last, a picture! I took a couple, but this gives the big picture, so to speak. The left front is 18 firestorms, the right is 18 swords, the center is 11 cobras. Behind the firestorms are 8 lunars, behind the cobras are 6 Dauntless', then 4 gothics behind the swords. Behind the dauntless' are 12 falchions and behind the Gothics are 2 Tyrants. Behind the Tyrants are 4 Dominators. In the center behind the falchions, from left to right: Overlord, Mars, Jovian, 2 Dictators. Left to right on the Battleships are: Apocalypse, Retribution, Vengeance(grand), and 2 emperors. Then the blackstone, the space stations and 4 misc. transports. Some are painted, some isn't. It's been time-consuming trying to paint all these, to say the least! The reason I got so many, is I wanted to be able to field a large fleet of any type I wanted to combat any situation. I didn't spend as much as you'd think. Through trades, hobby quitters, and store closures, I lucked out and received this huge fleet for just over 150$, spread over time, the largest expenditure coming from the Core Game. In all it's impossible-to-repack glory, my mega imperial fleet. It rivals the biggest fleet of any staff at the GW Battlebunker in Lombard, IL. The previous manager, Dave, had nearly this size. Bjorn

Space is awfully satiny where they're stationed... Perhaps a Slaanesh-influenced warp storm?

I did some point totalling, and my fleet adds up to about 9,300 pts. I am making a trade in the upcoming week for a Ramilies, 6 more firestorms, 3 more cruisers, and another emperor. That would bring the fleet to around 11,300 pts. Yikes. I slowly picked this fleet up so I could play any kind I wanted and with a bunch of friends who didnt own ships. And, I think it was one of the best GW games made. Too bad it wasn't powergamed enough at first to keep it alive with the younger crowd. Oh, I have every ship named, besides escorts which are named by squadrons. On another note, you should see my IG Tank Company, hahaha. Huge pts. Bjorn

According to the Specialist Games Forum, BFG 2nd Edition is done and will be released sometime in the near future. Maybe that will generate some interest. Future ship development seems to belong to Forgeworld (probably a good thing)

Hmm it depends on which fleet you refer to. I have four, but my largest one is my eldar escort fleet of cheese.
18 nightshades 30 hemlocks. 4 aurora cruisers just shy of 2500 points of pure wisconsin gouda.
Ill have to wrangle up a pic of them. I only ever got to field the whole thing one time though.

An updated version of my Fleet Emperor Class Battleship Retribution Class Battleship 5 Overlord Class Battlecruisers 4 Mars Class Battlecruisers 2 Dictator Class Cruiser 2 Gothic Class Cruisers 2 Dominator Class Cruisers 6 Firestorm Class Frigates 6 Sword Class Frigates All told, I now have just shy of 4400pts of a fleet. I've got a rather disportional amount of Battlecruisers, mostly because I bought 2 of the Mars, and 2 of the Overlord, under the belief that they were Dominator and Dictator class Cruisers. Thats just an excuse to buy more Cruisers though. I'm also looking at getting some more escorts, Cobra's specifically. We've got a Chaos, and 2 Eldar players in our group, so I'm thinking about maybe buying a small Necron, or Space Marine fleet as well. Any suggestions about which would be better? Edit: Dug up another Dictator. I haven't seen any Tyrants before. Could an Overlord be a good substitute for one of them?

Personally I would go with Falchion Class Escort's over Cobras any day. With the Falchion's Strength 3 weapons if you fail to reload you still have a creadable escort that can do some damage. It does only have One Torp but I like having good weapon Batteries.

Here's my Chaos fleet, painted in an Iron Warriors scheme.
My Despoiler Class Battleship.
My Carriers, one Styx and two Devastations.
My Idolator escorts.
My entire fleet.
And a Space Hulk I built for fun, and out of tribute to the first GW game I ever played.
(I never liked the idea of Space Hulks built from rocks and asteroids, and I always imagined that they were always built up from ships found derelict in space and attached in any way possible)
