3 Shrikes w/ Rending Claws, Toxin Sacs, 1 w/ Venom Cannon

Heavy Support
Tyrannofex w/ Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines
Tyrannofex w/ Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines

The Prime joins the Zoanthropes, who get catalysted by the Tervigon. The Hive Guard hide behind the Zoanthropes, the MCs get screened by that combo. The Hormagaunts hide behind the MCs for countercharge. The 'Stealers can infiltrate and get followed by the Gargoyles and Shrikes, or can join the phalanx.

So how's it look?

Interesting list. Have you played it yet?

I would like to know how your Shrikes and Tryannofexes do.

You have 1/4 of your army in Tyrannofexes, so I hope they perform well. I can't help but think they are a little overpriced. If the Tyranno's land 24 hits they'll destroy 1.3 land raiders (sad, isn't it-- their BS of 3 really hurts them). As opposed to 12 shots from 3 Zoanthropes (assuming they strike on turns 3-6) destroying 2.9 land raiders (for half the price). [Source: Hamulator]

On the other hand, your Tyrannos can't get popped by a STR 8 shot and they don't need psychic tests.

For me I would take 3 Hive Guard and split the Zoanthropes into 2 units of 2.

I'm not totally sure about the math on the tyrannofexes - I did some calculations earlier, and I think I got a wrecked result 7/36 (just over 1/6) of the time, assuming no cover, and that's for one. Maybe I'll write out my steps and put it in tactics.

Yeah, I'm definitely paying for security with the tyrannofexes. They're ridiculously hard to kill, especially with a cover save.

The reason I've gone with one squad of zoanthropes is I can protect it. if I take 2, I can only put the prime in one and only catalyst one. My opponent can then shoot small arms at the uncatalysted one and big guns at the one without the prime, or if I catalyst the one with the prime, just shoot the other one. Hive guard don't have that problem because they don't need los, so I can hide them.

I haven't playtested this yet, and I'm pretty curious about the Shrikes myself. Hopefully other things will look scary enough that they won't get shot up.

Thanks for the comment.

Let's see,

Tfex vs Land Raider:

3/6 to hit x 2/6 to pen x 2/6 to destroy = 12/216 per shot to destroy

12/216 destroys/shot * 24 shots = 288/216 destroys = 1.3 destroys

That's logical on the Zoanthropes. Something I will have to consider if I run 4. Currently just running 3 zoes and 3 hive guard, and 10 ymgarls. I love how they can pop out and assault on the same turn.
