Hey Guys.
After the Apache-Vendetta I'm going to build a chimera especially fro my ogryn squad. The thing is, i don't want it to look like an ordinary tank, so i want to do some modifications on it.

I was thinking about letting the whole back lift up and not just a door to pull down (i did that on another chimara model) and I was thinking about giving the hull some bumbs and dents form the inside, to show that there is not much room left when a bunch of angry ogryns are put into a tank like that.

Any more Ideas ?

Thanks in Advance

How about a sun-roof with thier heads popping up like the "Whack-a-Mole" game! LOL.
Sorry, that would be an ORK vehicle. That will be a copy righted idea anyone using it will owe me a $1. LOL

I've planned a Higgins Boat-style Chimera for my Ogryns.

A slightly bulkier Chimera variant would be nice - raising the roof by about 1cm wouldn't be too difficult.

I presume you do want it based on a Chimera, as opposed to e.g. a modified Ork Battlewagon or Rhino or whatever?

make sure you model hay on the bottom of the chimera like in a barn. i doubt the ogrns ask the driver to pull over when they have to tinkle or poo.

Try making the pasenger compartment into a cage; I one saw it done in and old WD and it looked brilliant!

Mostly, on my phone.

Maybe use a (classic) basilisk as your base, and have it as an open platform at the back? That'd also gel well with Khaine's cage idea.

If the chimera is still unassembled, all you need is some (textured) plasticard and some rod; the guides for the basilisk platform are on the inside of the track section so you can use those for the height of the platform. If it's assembled... it'll depend on how well it's been assembled

I don't like the cage idea, but a larger compartment sounds good.
Altough just bumps and dents from the inside would be cool too. How about an Ogryn looking out of the top hatch? It could count as a heavy bolter or something.

+1 for Khaine's cage idea. It fits the feel of Ogryns being in Chimeras against their will, and being unleashed on foes.

How about having the compartment at the front of the tank so that ogryns are released straight it to fac of their foes, with the driving compartment at the back

I would raise the roof and possibly widen the tank a bit. It would look cool if you could give them heavier duty looking tracks. The only easy way I can think of doing that is to double up the tracks with another kit (that would also give you more chassis to use to make the original larger).

I think you should use the new chimera. It already has the deck plating. You remove the the forward section that covers the drivers section from the rear roof. Mount a number of vertical beams to attach the rear to the top of to raise it a cm or so. Then fill the open space between the vertical beams with wire mesh or just a number of horizontal beams of the same material as the vertical ones.

thanks for all the input. I canceled the cage idea, as nice as it is, i just don't have the parts for it at hand right now and I think even if i could pull this of, it would still look too small to put in even 3 Ogryns.

I started to raise the top by using the ending part of the basilisk platform and some foamboard. Now i need to figure out how to build the hatch at the rear.

And I got a nice idea to solve the "6 Lasguns that shout out from the middle of the top hatch" rule

I'll post some pictures tomorow

This is actually a really good idea - I'll be doing this when I make my open topped Chimeras.

I'd be careful at this point. Make sure you don't have too much of the passenger compartment sticking out behind the tracks. The top part in the last picture is too far in the back.

How about having Ogrynn feet coming out of the bottom like a car on the Flintstones?

Or handles on the outside hull so that if it gets immobilized they can heave ho it back to base...

Your also gonna have to model it with an LED inside so it is lit up inside (maybe a red light) as Ogryns are afraid of the dark and confined spaces...

Looking good but I'd consider shortening the rear; no need to move it to the front that much. If you feel up to it, removing about 2 cm from the roof should be ok; the length of your foamboard would seem a good guideline. otherwise, it'll look very unbalanced, especially with all that weight in the back.

It's an still an Imperial Guard Chimera, not an Ork Buggy

Ok, I'm with you on the shorter rear, the model should look anything but fast paced.

Cutting or not cutting, that is (now) the question...

I'm loving the bumps; how did you do those? The only thing I would say about them is they look a bit smooth; could they be more angular (a fist would be awesome!). Nevertheless, really liking this!

unfotunalty, i don't have an unpainted ogryn, I hat the idea of using a real fist, or even a foot too.
I don't want to use a painted model, not shure if the paint would come of.

so I heated the plastic with a short burst of a jet flame lighter an then pressed different sized metalsticks in the soft material.
