Hi, Dakka.
So, after reading fluff concerning Vortex Support Missiles, and the incredible stats for them, I, and my usual apoc gaming group, decided that it would be fun to create a Deathstrike Missile, but with a Vortex Payload. Basically take all of the normal rules for the deathstrike, i.e. T-minus 5 minutes to launch, and counting, but replace the missile with a Vortex Support Missile. Of course, this would be for apoc only, as a 10" gone template would sorta unbalance smaller games.
Anyway, what I would like from you guys is just an estimate on how many points you think something like this should be worth.
Thanks in advance.

Edited for spelling.

I'd imagine around 600p would be fair, given how much damage it can do, and its huge range (which I'd change to make 48-Inf for Apoc), balanced by its comparitivly weak chassy

Yeah, I could see the 600 point cost. I mean, it is sort of a "I don't like that Hq/bodyguard/platoon/tank squadron/insert thing here. Goodbye."

I'd say 250 points is adequate, because of the following.
1: Can only use the Vortex once, afterwards it's just a mobile Heavy Bolter
2: Has a small chance of firing, only 1/6 on Turn 1

Deathstrike cannot fire at all on T1.

And in the points cost, although it will probably die T1, you have to factor in it's ability (with average to good rolling) to 1 shot most titains

Actually, it only has the ability to one shot a warhound. Things like Reavers have many more structure points than the D3 is capable of taking down, without insane rolling on the catastrophic damage results(like 5 6s in a row).

I always saw the ancient (i think they're ancient, maybe) vortex missile as quite unstable. You could make it cheap (250 ish) and then include the following, hilarious, rule.

When the vehicle is shot at, if a 6 is rolled on the vehicle damage table, detonate the missile with the centre of a 5" template placed over the centre of the vehicle. The missile misfires!

Just an idea, but anyways, sounds good, but 400pts maybe, it will pack a helluva punch, when it eventually fires. It removing everything (virtually) under the 10" template!

I don't play as much as I could. I blame society! And ninjas

Wehrkind: "Nah, see he yells the order, and when everyone looks at him and say "What?" he grabs the vox, hits a guy with it and screams "CAN YOU HEAR MY NOW?!" into the mouth piece. Works like a charm "

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms.

I like it.
You always hear about how ancient and unstable the technology is, so that seems like a reasonable catch...

It's 200+ model point of the deathstrike missile launcher and the guardsmen to guard it
