Hey guys first project post...woop!

I have a vast reserve of Clanrats from a Skaven battalion I bought in the hopes of resurrecting the first full army I ever had since then my ideas have evolved to using the entire battalion contents in a Nurgle Guard/Rat Mutant/Death Guard/Daemon army I have on the burner the plague monks in the army are well quite straight forward they are multi part and convert well to mutants with lasguns,Knives,Bells the Rat Ogres are going to be two big Mutants. The swarms make pretty good Nurgling stand ins.

Now when you look at the Clanrat frames the only thing that is removable is the arm a lasgun wont fit properly if the spear/halberd is shaved away and smoothed as the lasguns look slight big and slightly silly in their hands so what to use Clanrats for.I hand over this to you Dakkites and your vast reserves of knowledge.

Maybe you could try the smaller lasgun carbines from the elysians (on forgeworld), they might look a bit better...

Otherwise count them as C:SM and see how a boltgun looks.

hope that helps

Lets face it, by the sounds of things some of you people couldn't complete a game of snakes and ladders without running off to the internet to whine that snakes are broken and ladders are too powerful...-Hymirl

Pfft, Treadheads ! All the gear and no idea! You'll only end scattering and blow up a shrine to the God-Emprah!

Aah, clanrats. Some of my first minis were old plastic clanrats.
I see the probem with the halberd arm. You could always sling the lasguns on their backs and have them holding knives or clubs, or if you're feeling clever, a little bit of clipping and shaving and you could get pistols in those hands.

Not that I know what you'd do with them then though... :S

You can always just clean cut the hand off and replace it with a new hand holding whatever you like. CSM leather glove hands would look cool on there, if a little oversized.

Thanks sounds cool guys did I mention they were the new Clanrats??

A lasgun or carbine with a strap so their carrying it could work I may mock up a mini later on and see if it works. My plague monks work just fine as they look like mutants already and the multipartasticness makes them very user friendly.

but again thanks guys I'll put the suggestions into practice and let you know whats going on.

Well, they do work for Traitor Guard. But older clanrats or nightrunners would be way better.

My favorite conversions I've seen of them were as "RATLING SNIPERS" for someone's traitor guard army. I'm sure the pun was fully intended.

Sounds like they would do better as a traitor/renegade IG army.

The idea at the moment is to use them as "Mob Mutants" something to pounce on the enemy after my plague zombies are done with them.

Or to use as a distraction target perhaps...

Also I could imagine Chaos Marines with Rat heads could be good may pick me up a CSM battleforce or two.
