So, I was thinking about making an Imperial guard army to match my Space Marines, but I don't REALLY want to buy/build hundreds of infantry models. So my question is would Dakka allow Plastic army men (The old green ones) as proxies for guard?

What you do in the privacy of your own home is your own personal shame. I wouldn't play against you, personally.

thanks guys. I don't blame you for not wanting to play against it, and I would never use it outside of my own home lol.

As long as the bases are the right sizes, hell yeah.
Most of my friends with whom I do battle run armies entirely composed of cardboard/cardstock circles, flags, and paper-box tanks. I even use them myself when I don't have enough rhinos, for example.
Of course, we're VERY loose with what we consider acceptable.
