Hello fellow forum goers. In attempt to start posting on here more and to get receive some constructive criticism on my work, I have decided to post my progress here on Dakka Dakka.

I had gotten a Tau Battleforce about a month ago and I have not really made much progress on that so posting here might give me incentive to work on them more.

I have been playing for a few months now (since summer last year in the US) Playing SM's. They got boring real quick so I though I'd pick up the Tau. I believe I have made the right choice as they are extremely fun to play as and paint and they are infinitely fascinating.

I have a total of 688 points worth of Tau. Here is my army list.

But enough talk about why I started them, onto pictures and painting stuff.

Does anyone know of a matte clear-coat that is actually matte? I have been using "Rust-Oleum's Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Matte Clear" and it is sill a little glossy.

My Shas'el Iur'tae'mont (Commander Shell Shock, because my friends always hit me with ordnance)
New pictures will be uploaded soon
This thing was really fun to paint. I do feel it could be better so I might touch it up later. What dou you guys think of the colors?

My Devilfish APC

This took quite a bit to paint, about 3 days. As I said about the Crisis Suit, some things could be better(the white sept marks don't cover completely). I still need to paint the tank commander. Or I might convert him into an ethereal.
(Don't mind the die, I got bored and painted it.)

My recently finished Kroot Shaper

So far, this has become my favorite model. I started out by just putting on the arms to distinguish it as the shaper from the other unpainted kroot during a game the other day (I leave a model's arms off until I finish painting it), but then I decided I needed a way to easily distinguish him when they all were painted and this was the end result.

My only finished Fire Warriors

I need to go over a few areas again, primarily the pulse rifles. The hands of the 2 Shas'la also need repainted to match the Shas'ui.

I finally came up with a sept name that I kind of like the sound of. For'tesfo'tau It is literally an anagram of the sentence "Forest of Tau" because they live on a heavily forested planet.
As a side effect from looking on the 40k lexicanum for a sept name I got a name for my Shas'o. His name is now Shas'o Iur'tae'mont (Commander Shell Shock) because everyone I play against always has to hit me with ordnance weapons.

Nice paint scheme and bases!

Btw if you want more depth in the armour you could use a wash.

Looking forward to see more, consider me subscribed!

I really enjoy the colors you have chosen, the green compliments the brown very well. Also, nice crisp lines

Thanks.

I'm trying to stay away from washes with this army. I think it makes them look really dirty. That's why I left the black undercoat showing in the crevices.

I updated the main post with my army list if you guys are interested.

I have decided to venture into the realm of building Tau terrain. Since I play Dawn of War alot It will contain a Coalition Center. I'll upload some concepts soon.

I love the green and brown on the suit. It feels just like something the fire caste in a jungle world would wear.

I tend to use department store varnishes (like ones you get from Wal-mart), but I look for varnishes that are actually shiny (the majority of my varnished models are Plague marines and Nids, who benefit from a shinier coat) so I dont know if they're good for matte work. Art craft stores sometimes sells "fixative" which is more or less just another kind of varnish, but it dries matte. However since it's made for paper and pencil, I dont know how effective it is for resisting paint chips.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Thanks for the tip. But sadly at my nearest Wal-Mart there was only one matte clear coat which is the one I have.

I updated the end of the main post with sept and commander names and explanations for the names.
