This is my first army list ever, and I really don't know what I'm doing. Here's my rough draft:

HQ

1 Abbadon the Despoiler

Elites

1 x 9 Possessed Chaos Space Marines
- 1 with Icon of Slaanesh
- Unit takes a Rhino

1 x 5 Chaos Terminators
- 1 with Icon of Slaanesh
- 1 with Heavy Flamer

Troops

4 x 10 Chaos Space Marines
- 4 with Icon of Slaanesh
- 4 with Plasma Guns
- 2 with Lascannon
- 2 with Heavy Bolter
- 2 with Flamer
- Each Unit takes a Rhino

2 x 10 Noise Marines
- 18 with Sonic Blaster
- 2 with Blastmaster
- Each Unit takes a Rhino

Heavy Support

1 Defiler

I'm wanting this for tournament play.

As far as rules go, if Abbadon starts with the Possessed I can stick him in the Rhino, correct?

I've also thought about including Chaos Spawn instead of Possessed, and replacing the Defiler with something a little tougher. Another option is to upgrade a Terminator to a Champion and keep a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh on the side to possess him.

Please, comments and criticisms are needed!

Thanks in advance,
Arol-Chap

Rhinos cannot carry Terminators, so no.

If you intend to go to a tournament you should know that Possessed are overpriced and so are Noise Marines (25 points is enough to field almost two regular marines and all you get is an extra shot and 1 initiative).

A Chaos Marine squad in a Rhino will generally not be firing its heavy weapons, meltaguns are a more common tournament loadout. If you want those lascannons or heavy bolters form them into a Havoc squad or take the generally accepted as more competitive Obliterators.

That being said you seem to be doing this for flavour purposes so why not really. Just understand it's not the most 'competitive' build. Icon of Slaanesh is situational as well. Specifically it's only doing anything against initiative 4/5 opponents and then only in close combat (another reason the heavy weapons are not so great).

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

Thanks!

I actually do want this for competition, but just figured a uniform build was a place to start.

I suppose looking back Slaanesh doesn't make much sense considering I want a shootier army, is there a mark that is better for that?

Thank you for your patience, I'm really glad that I didn't get chewed up and down for not knowing too much about tactics.

Sincerely,

I play a Slaanesh themed chaos army and do quite well with it. Here's my current 1850 point list. The Noise Marines can be played aggressively against marine equivalents to take advantage of the I 5 and DOOM SIREN(one of the best things in the codex) or shooty as hell against hordes or similar.

Hope this helps......

The cookie cutter most commonly seen Chaos tournament lists field lots of Plague Marines and Obliterators because they're the best points cost for what they do.

5-man Plague Marine squads with 2 meltas or 2 plasma guns run just 145 points. Plague Marines are not restricted to 1 heavy weapon under 10 strong like normal Marines.

Unmarked Chaos Marines in Rhinos with Chaos Glory and Meltaguns are also good for their points.

Obliterators can do anything you want them to do and back it up by being 2-wound Terminators for just 75 points. Vindicators with Daemonic Possession are also good.

Most common HQ choices are Slaanesh marked Daemon Princes and Sorcerors with Lash of Submission which lets you move your opponent's models, probably the strongest psychic power in the book. So you could group them up to be plasma cannon'd by Obliterators or Vindicator'd, drag them out of cover for your Plague Marines, drag them into assault range for you, drag them out of assault range. It's silly.

If you load up on those you'll be well on your way to an incredibly cheesy Chaos tournament list in no time.

Okay, thanks again! You've both helped out a new player a lot.

I'll post something new when I finish it.
