Alright, I have two lists for my fellow Dakkites to C + C. The first list is a fluffy vanilla SM list that I think would do fairly well in a tourney. The second list is not as fluffy, but more competitive in my opinion. What I'm looking for here is for you guys (and gals) to give me some feedback on these two lists as to what you would change and why you would change it. BTW, I know the first comment will be to add a librarian, but I don't want to conform to the net lists that seem to ALL have librarians, I'm trying to create quality lists with out a Libby. Ok, list number 1, the fluffy one:

HQ Chaplain in Terminator armor w/ storm bolter 130

Elites Terminator assault squad (5 man)
(4) TH + SS (1) LC 200
LRC w/ multi-melta and extra armor 275

Dreadnought w/ Multi-melta and ML 115

Heavy support Vindicator tank 115

Vindicator tank 115

Troops Tac squad (10 man)
Plasma cannon + flamer 175
Razorback w/ TL H. bolters 40

Tac squad (10 man)
ML + flamer, sarge w/ power fist 195
Razorback w/ TL H. bolters 40

Scout squad (5 man)
(4) snipers (1) ML, camo cloaks 100

This list comes to exactly 1500 points, I feel that I've sqeezed every point out of this list, to make it fluffy, yet somewhat competitive.

Here is list number 2, I don't feel this is a fluff list solely for the fact that I'm taking Vulkan He'Stan as the HQ, and not an Ultramarine HQ .

HQ Vulkan He'Stan 190

Elites Terminator assault squad (6 man)
(6) TH + SS 240
LR redeemer w/ multi-melta and extra armor 265

Dreadnought w/ multi-melta and ML 115

Heavy support Vindicator tank 115

Vindicator tank 115

Troops Tac squad (10 man)
Plasma cannon + flamer
sarge w/ combi-melta 180
Razorback w/ TL H. bolters 40

Tac squad (10 man)
Melta-gun + flamer
sarge w/ Power fist 200
Razorback w/ TL H. bolters 40

This list is 1500 points as well, but benefits from the mastercrafted hammers and the TL flame and melta weapons. I thought it might look a little strange for a Salamanders HQ unit leading an Ultramarine army onto the field, is that something that is acceptable at tourneys or frowned upon? Anyway, give me your opinion on both lists, I only have 2 requests: 1. NO LIBRARIANS and 2. Try to post something constructive please. Thanks

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

I'd go for Vulkan list because of all those benefits.
Two full Tacticals at the 1500 pt level are sufficient.

Yea, I wasn't sure if the 2 tac squads would be enough, seeing as I'm going to combat squad them and all.
