My suggestions:
Coven are not about control, but delivery of their Jack Bullet. Infernal Machine, Veil of Mists, Curse of Shadows all help their jack move through the enemy army to the enemy caster/lock.
Venethrax would be in the same 'camp' as Terminus. (Get it? Camp? As in Campethrax?...ok it's not funny) He doesn't help his army and only really cares about it giving himself forcus. I think you think he's control and Denial due to his cloud effect feat, but personally I consider it a non-feat.
Terminus is interesting, the 10" bubble of tough lends it to Attrition and the Camping. But, Close Combat and personal sword to face is his win condition, same with Venny.
prime Skarre is more close combat than Combined Arms, most because of her spell list and feat which desires essentially Infantry Machine.
epic Skarre is more about a Jack Bullet with her feat and perdition.
Personally, prime Deneghra would be better in Control and Denial, even with super debuffs, she still has the low end of damage dealing and prefers to let the rest of her army to kill the caster, while her feat does alot of control. You make their army suck, make them slower and prevent charges. Crippling does that whenever it's cast.
I would say that Goreshade the Bastard is a combined Arms caster. Even though his spell list is very oriented to Warjacks, he just can't run them efficiently, he's generally a walking contradition in many forms of the phrase.
Ahhh Scaverous... I think Spell Assassination is second to his ability to Control the board. Telekenisis is very powerful, his feat annoyes spell casters and beasts in his control. Ghostly walk allows better movement options, he has access to Excarnate/Bile.
Lich Lord Asphyxious is Attrition, no doubt, but he's very good at Control and Denial, Caust Mist is a very power spell and completely shuts down areas for single wound models.
In general, most casters are flexible enough to have their toes in other categories.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Gaspy is the epitome of a spell assassin.
See, I would class pDeneghra as a combined arms caster.
She is versatile, so can win a number of ways, but needs something else to do the killing most times.
With her debuffs, she indirectly makes her army faster, stronger, and better.
Terminus I agree. He is a close combat caster. His army is there as a shield to get him there.
Epic Denny you have just right.
She could also be considered a combined arms because of the various debuffs.
Curse of Shadows can make an enemy unit useless as a defensive line.
Hellmouth can bunch things up for another AoE or spray, if it doesn't kill straight out.
I think Sanct is right, that a lot of Cryx casters refuse to be classified.
Their spell suites and abilities are so versatile, and adaptable that you can change plan and adjust on the fly. As long as you know your stuff.
I think this is where the "Cryx is OP" comments come from.

Witchcoven is actually easiest to play as spell assassin. With their list, you can get an arcnode ANYWHERE, and have a bunch of focus left over (especially with DJ, Scar, and the combine) to just throw enough spells to ruin any casters day.
I would say pDenny could even be called attrition, just making their army worse and worse turn by turn, rotting it away and taking big bites out of it with your suddenly insane McThralls and reapers.
Scaverous can play spell assassin ;TK and ghostwalk let an arcnode go anywhere, and on his feat turn you are churning out a hell of a lot of excarnates, especially if he racked up a lot of focus from erebus/thresher the previous turn. He also, as has been said, runs a jack bullet list (DJ is a must with scavvy).
I only ever see terminus with 30 mcthralls and 2 surgeons, along with whatever else the player chooses. This list is attrition till terminus pops feat, then it's all over (once he reaches their lines) with ravager and reach on him he can chew through anything and everything.
As for eGaspy, he is definitely attrition/control. rolling wave of caustic mist, sell your knights and tartarus hard, then bring them back with gaspy @ their line, feat them BEHIND enemy models, teleport away, tartarus does the rest.

I would not really count the Coven as spell assassins though...that is leftover feelings from Mark 1 IMO.
It's a pow 12...although it is said it kills casters, it's not as reliable as the other options that are available to the 'real' spell assassins.
For instance, there is pGaspy, gets arc node close enough he can't ever miss no matter the Def, so it's 4 straight power 12's with 2 boosts assuming feat and no souls prior.
With Coven, although you get a discount for the spells, you still need to hit. Focus 9 is nice, but it's not as good as thee 'sure' thing Breath trick.
If you count on crit shadow bind, that means requiring to boost at least the first attack.
So now you have 4 unboosted pow 12's with respect to damage. That is less than pGaspy's output due to the likely access to 2 boosted damage rolls.
Scavernous, he feats to get boosted attacks and cheaper spells, what you are likely to see is the following, Feast of worms and 2 Excarnates. You lose out on an extra spell, but gain in a pow 14/15/15.
Coven, as I have said, have alot of tools to deliver a heavy jack to the enemy player's caster/lock. They 'can' assassinated with spells, but that's either hoping for a non-camping caster/lock, great dice, etc. Just saying IMO, it's not their primary kill option, but it is an option.

I would still put eGaspy primarily in board control over attrition. Yes, between Excarnate and his Feat you can certainly play for the long haul just whittling down your opponents, but without any souls his Caustic Mist can lay down a 9" wall of LoS blocking goodness, shut down charge lanes or create a space that single-wound infantry simply cannot stay in. Need to flush ranged attackers out of cover? Need to force that group off an objective?
Looking back at Excarnate, if you bring along Bile Thralls then your opponent had best keep his living models out of range or suffer a surprise Purge.
His Daemortus makes those abilities even more potent as not only will they generate/force kills, but those kills bring him souls for even more clouds and AoEs next turn.

==Spell Assassin== Spell assassins assassinate you with spells. Surprise! It's important to note that spell assassination is just one role taken up by these warcasters. ===[[Iron Lich Asphyxious]]=== The Iron Lich likes to deal damage from afar by casting the [[Parasite Spell]] on things before he throws Blood Rains or Hellfires at them. When he uses the [[Consuming Blight Feat]], he refills his focus focus pool, allowing him to blast at things with spells even more. One couldn't go wrong giving him arc nodes to play with, the [[Cankerworm Bonejack]] to help take down heavies, and some kind of melee troops like the [[Bloodgorgers Unit]] to both protect his medium base and get a powerful punch from the [[Scything Touch Spell]]. Not only does he support an army really well, but he can also play the role of melee assassin by charging in and using the [[Sustained Attack Ability]] in conjunction with his feat to auto-hit after the first melee attack and buy plenty of melee attacks with the extra focus. ===[[Lord Exhumator Scaverous]]=== Scaverous has a spell list to envy and a medium sized base to protect. He supports an Undead army well by casting the [[Excarnate Spell]] at enemies in order to bring back his troops. And how does he cast so many spells? He uses his [[Black Gate Feat]] to reduce his spell costs. Scaverous likes his [[Skarlock Thrall Solo]] to land early game Icy Grips or deliver troops or Arc Nodes with the [[Ghost Walk Spell]], allowing them to ignore freestrikes. Other key choices for the Lord Exhumator are Undead models to play the attrition game and then come back with Excarnate like the [[Bile Thralls Unit]] or a [[Bane Knights Unit]]. ===[[Warwitch Deneghra]]=== Warwitch Deneghra is grouped with the spell assassins because of the [[Crippling Grasp Spell]]. The spell is so debilitating it can shut down the hardest troops or 'jacks. Deneghra does, however, rely on the rest of her army to do the actual killing, but Crippling Grasp makes all that happen. In order to take advantage of her debuffs, take the [[Nightmare Warjack]] so that it can have huge bonuses against its Prey, or the [[Bane Thralls Unit]] to further weaken enemy ARM with their [[Dark Shroud Ability]]. Finally her [[Web of Shadow Feat]] stops models from moving anywhere without some kind of place effect. First off, it's looking great!
There are two points I would touch on with pDenny and eGaspy.
pDenny: Yes, Crippling Grasp is absolutely brutal (I love that spell), but Venom is not her scary followup to the Feat turn. Arc Node + Scourge for a guaranteed four-focus knockdown, Parasite the hapless victim with the remaining three for a total of -5 ARM and then insert killy object here. While there certainly are Melee threats that love a knocked down target (Nightmare's crazy threat range sure loves it), our Ranged options love it even more since anyone already whacking the KD target in melee doesn't benefit from the defense bonus. Our Pistol Wraiths go from a respectable PS12 to a whopping PS17 per shot. Pick off a couple of infantry grunts earlier in the game and you're tossing in four boosted PS17 shots on a caster. Bring in Nyss Hunters (7" move + 12" shooting without Dougal) and TEN effective PS15 shots and watch as your friends start refusing to play you.
eGaspy: Just a small note here that eGaspy really prefers Knights vs. Thralls when looking for his Bane fix. Ghostly + Reach + Vengeance + Clouds is better than Stealth + Tough + Clouds. On feat turn, that's an additional 2" threat range that you will want every time. They will already have Dark Shroud because you will activate, Curse and charge with BLT first and anything the Knights can reach Mr. Tartarus will reach.

this is a neat Idea. I would do it from the other direction. You are trying to slot characters into categories. Instead I would define the roles at the beginning then under each caster I would list what they do.
pDenny
control/assasination
Terminus
Melee/attrition
Coven
Jack delivery/assaination/control
I think that would let a new player really see what casters do what. for example I rarely use damage spells with pGaspy I use him to buff/debuff primarily (effective pow 20 mechthralls tasty)

I'd still say that eSkarre is more "combined arms" rather than about going "Deathjack-a-go-go." Being able to negate targeting also aids select Solos who are notorious for making life all-the-more difficult for your opponent. Even if it's something simple like going "sorry, but my Shadow-Locking Warwitch Siren cannot be targeted..." or popping it after a particular Pistol Wraith fired its initial volley (at something hit by Black Spot, ideally, though this may not always be the case), she also provides more mileage for Solomachine.

==Attrition==
When you're playing with the Undead, attrition is likely going to be the name of your game. Throw bodies at the problem, and maybe generate a few more in the process, and you've got yourself a lovely tidal wave of undead to swarm even the most elite troops.
===[[Lich Lord Terminus]]===
Even though he's on a large base, Terminus is no easy target. The [[Sacrificial Pawn Ability]] transfers ranged attacks to nearby undead models that also gain the [[Tough Ability]] within his CMD range. His troops and 'jacks protect him long enough to deliver his multiple attacks during his [[Dragon's Call Feat]]. As living models die, Terminus gets two turns of increased ARM from soul tokens and then from the focus gained from those soul tokens. With the [[Malediction Spell]], Terminus can drop the defensive stats of anyone he pleases so that either he or his army can take them apart.
===[[Goreshade the Cursed]]===
The epic form of Goreshade grants [[Bane Thrall Unit]]s the ability to grow more Bane Thralls when they destroy models in melee. Not only do they have their own native [[Stealth Ability]], but Goreshade can cast the [[Occultation Spell]] on any other unit of his choice to also grant them stealth. He also likes to keep cheap infantry on hand in order to return more elite troops with the [[Reanimator Feat]]. His feat allow him to return key models, such as unit attachments, power solos, and anything he needs to finish the game.
==Combined Arms==
The combined arms approach of these Cryx warcasters rely on more than just Bonejacks to deliver spells. Their function best using their abilities to make their battlegroups and infantry interact.
===[[Goreshade the Bastard]]===
The eldritch warcaster keeps his battlegroup alive with the [[Shadowmancer Spell]] or protects his entire army with the [[Mage Blight Spell]] preventing spells and feats in his prodigious control area. The [[Dark Summons Feat]] summons even more infantry in case the rest of his army falls. And he needs that infantry in order to retrieve his warjacks with the [[soul Gate Spell]]. He sends the warjacks out and Soul Gate retrieves them back.
===[[Skarre, Queen of the Broken Coast]]===
The epic form of the pirate queen can equip her infantry with extra ARM through the [[Death Ward Spell]] and give them an amazing amount of attacks by hitting an enemy model with the [[Black Spot Spell]]. However, her Seas of Fate ability helps make her focus efficient with her battlegroup and the [[Fate Weaver Feat]] protects her models or prevents the enemy from attacking.
==Warjack Delivery==
These warcasters deliver the warjacks and deliver them hard and/or fast. Their primary means of assassination/destruction comes from the power of necrotech.
===[[Master Necrotech Mortenebra]]===
Mortenebra and her [[Deryliss Solo]] Skarlock makes Helljacks sing. She casts the [[Terminal Velocity Spell]] whenever her battlegroup needs to charge, and she or Derylliss use the [[Overrun Spell]] to move key models around or the [[Spectral Steel Spell]] to make warjacks move regardless of freestrikes. Spectral Steel and Terminal Velocity can even make a Helljack trample without fear of consequences. And not only does she make warjacks melee, but her [[Interface Ability]] can make the ranged helljacks hideously efficient by keeping them close and just feeding off her focus pool. Overrun moves the battlegroup around and Terminal Velocity/Spectral Steel delivers them.

When you're playing with the Undead, attrition is likely going to be the name of your game. Throw bodies at the problem, and maybe generate a few more in the process, and you've got yourself a lovely tidal wave of undead to swarm even the most elite troops.
I don't think that can be considered 'attrition'. Wasn't the idea of Cryx (especially with their 'jacks) the 'glass hammer'? Hit so hard that hopefully the enemy can't hit back, but if they do you're probably screwed?

Attrition = outlast, outfight. Looking at Terminus and eGore, this is exactly how they play.

eGaspy also plays a solid Attrition game because of his feat, though it's a little unconventional. He's perfectly happy to go model-for-model with his Knights, BLT, etc. because he's just going to summon them back once the battlefield is cleaned up a bit.
One comment regarding formatting of the guide (which is coming along great!): could you use colors, bolding, and underlines for playstyle and then perhaps a differently colored bold text for caster names and nicknames when applicable (Gaspy, Denny, Shade, etc)? This would also allow you to have the caster name at the start of a section without immediately needing line breaks to differentiate them.

ALWAYS take at least one, if not two Arc Nodes with Lich Lord Venny. He's capable of being a deadly spell assassin on par with the Iron Lich and Scavs. A good turn of Soul Harvesting/Dragon Slaying can load him up with a large pool of Focus and a lot of Hellfires to the enemy caster. On the same note, the same thing that makes the Iron Lich a deadly spell assassin makes him a SUPER EFFECTIVE melee assassin. If he gets to the enemy caster, they probably just died, especially if he hasn't used his Feat yet. Sustained Attack is Incredibly good.
I would also say that the pBastard is Not a `Jack caster. Yes, he gives them all Stealth and Dark Shroud by casting Shadowmancer each turn, but he does nothing to run them more efficiently like Mortenebra does. Witch Coven actually make good Jack Casters due to their large focus pool and spell list, and their Feat would provide the one good turn of range protection that our Jacks need to get in position.
Personally, I think the type of list you're trying to make is wrong in general., or at the very least you need to not list a caster under only a single category as many of them are capable of many things.
