My list I'm prepping for a tourney in March.

Slaughter Master - 315
-lvl 4, Lore Great Maw, 5+ Talisman

Bruiser - 179
-BSB, Armor Fortune, Iron Fist

11x Ironguts - 518
-Command, Look Out Gnoblar, Flamming Banner

4x Ogres - 138
-Musician, Iron Fists

4x Mournfang - 310
-Ironfists, Dragon Hide Banner

Gorger - 90

5x Maneaters - 330
-Brace Pistols, Heavy A., Sniper, Stubborn

1x Sabretusk - 21

Iron Blaster - 170

Iron Blaster - 170

Stonehorn - 250

Total - 2491

SM rides with the Ogres as support who spends most casting on the IG unit housing the BSB. Maneaters line up against cavalry or character units to snipe pot shots at characters. I've had very good luck with this and most players don't see this coming, let alone all the attacks they'll get at Strength 5 once in combat and Stubborn on an 8. Gorger ambushes to war machine hunt or where I need to put pressure (outstanding for 90 points). Ironblasters typically on flanks ready to shoot down enemy war machines, monsters, nasties, and support charge. Stonehorn lines up with IG unit or Maneater unit, depending on enemy deployment and units. I like to throw this guy down last since he def needs to go up against something you KNOW he'll manhandle. I've had a lot of luck and fortune with the Stonehorn versus the Thundertusk. Sabretusk to flesh out to 2500 and stalk lone characters or war machines. Mournfang get down and dirty with enemy nasty units, usually support charged by one of the Iron Blasters (I like to reserve one and get aggressive with another).

Overall I've had pretty good success with this list but I've come close to losing with so few ogres, even with success in the magic department.

I know I'll be facing two veteran VC players, one ogre player, and can expect an Empire cheese list and High Elf Teclis list (not looking forward to this game...) and possibly a nasty Skaven/Furnace list. Its either this or get started on my Tzeentch WoC army.

The Ogre unit is too small, you only have 1 Sabretusk(you mad?), a single gorger won't do much, and you don't have the Crown of Command on your SM.

i'd drop the Maneaters and Gorger to beef up the Bulls to 6 strong and get a 2nd unit of 6. Extra points can get you the Crown of Command on the SM and maybe some magic armor.

By all means run your general in a unit that does not give LOS. That is my first thought as I run tri cannon in tournaments.

I've tried the sniper maneaters a few times. What I noticed was it is too little payback for what you get.
I still like the brace, as it lets you shoot and stroll.
But I like scout and stubborn, with the gleaming pendant more.

5 wide, I toss out 25 S5 attacks in combat. Ignore me and I dish out 10 S4 AP shots as I close in on your flanks.
Charge me? Sure, free stand and shoot (quick to fire) and I'm stubborn, so I don't mind that +1 combat res you get.
It makes for a very tactical man eater unit. I found it much better than giving up half my hits to try and snipe some wizard.

Besides, ogres already have the best wizard snipe of all (hellheart).

Sniping isn't about killing their point value in models(they rarely will), but its more about them removing critical points from the enemy army. If my enemy has a 300 point Death Mage, I will gladly remove him for 400ish points of my army. I don't win the point exchange, but I do win tactically as that Death mage could obliterate my entire army with a single spell.

Or I could remove a BSB or something else squishy.

Thanks for the input amigos.

@ Grey Templar: I'm reworking this list completely. I got my a$$ handed to me by some nasty Chaos lists and I'm cursing myself because...well...I didn't take enough Ogres.

@ Johnny-Crass: Yeah def. slipped and forgot that 5x model requirement. New list has it fixed. Also to your tri-cannon...what point limit are you typically playing?

@ HawaiiMatt: You hit the nail on the head for tactical flexibility with the Maneater unit. If the situation is explicit and dire enough, I'd roll the dice (pun intended) to detonate on one unlucky caster. What I really like are all the strengths you just said, and busting in 25 S5 attacks is out-freakin-standing for such a versatile unit is $$$.

Revised list:

Slaughter Master: 315
lvl 4, 5++, LoGM

Firebelly: 174
lvl 1, 4++, Great Wpn

Brusier: 175
BSB, Armor Fortune

8x Ogres: 281
Ironfists, Musician, Std. w/ LoG

15x Iron Guts: 680
Command, LoG

4x Mournfang: 280
Ironfists, Heavy Armor

Stonehorn: 250

Iron Blaster: 170

Iron Blaster: 170

TOTAL: 2495

Thoughts?

Maneaters were just too much of a point sink and often getting tarpitted, pimp slapped, or shot to death before they could serve their purpose so I opted for more wounds in with just Bulls.

I've seen a friend run with great effect with his Firebelly and I've been wanting to put one in. What's your typical kit for a Firebelly? Also, how're you typically working the Hell Heart? at such a short to moderate range, I'm skeptical I can work it to optimal effect just yet.

I run 2 fire bellies.
One with great weapon and hell heart, the other with flying carpet and great weapon.
Both are level 1.
