I think there was a thread like this a while back but i thought i would resurrect it. Which book/Album/Tv series/Radio serial/Videogame/Comic would make a great movie or tv show that hasn't been adapted(well) already?

My Nominations are:

The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. One of my favourite books, it would make a brilliant movie. Its only short so i'd recommend you hunt it down if you haven't read it.

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole by Sue Townsend. It is my favourite Book series and IMO only gets better as Adrian Ages, Sue Townsend is a comic genius and the fact she has NAILED the Male psyche shows how simplistic we truly are . Though it has alot of topical gags it would make a great Long running tv show. The only problem of course is the fact Adrian would have to Age. And yes i am aware of a TV adaptation in the 80's.

Ex Machina. Easily the best comic book series i have read, i think it would make a fantastic TV series. Again it has alot of topical content but 'period' seems to be all the rage in tv atm.

Player or Games by Iain M Banks. I have a soft spot for Consider Phlebas but i think this novel would be the best introduction to 'the Culture'. The next movie would be Use of Weapons not that they have any recurring characters lol. PoG is the most Gimmicky/Filmable; having the whole Azad framing device (Its basically the most complicated game in the galaxy and is so important to the (tri-gender) race that created it they named themselves after it) and character arc of the Protaganist and his drone.

Hazards Of Love by The Decemberists. This LP concept album would make a fantastic Musical.

The entire Robert Rankin book collection! The great stories, clever concepts and plot twists and funny-as British writing style has made him my all time favourite author. EVERYONE should read 'The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies Of The Apocalypse' at least once in their lives!

There is an old film of 'Taming of the Shrew'. I remember watching in years ago back in high school. Also that film '10 things I hate about you' is a modern adaptation.

Villains By Necessity. Basically, take Lord of the Rings, but swap roles; the Villains are the ones questing to save the world (To "enjoy" it on later dates) and the good guys don't know they are upsetting the balance causing the world to destroy itself.

Kind of cheating here: dramatisation of the true events of the Iranian Embassy Siege, London 1980.

The Kasrkin were just men. It made their actions all the more astonishing. Six white blurs, they fell upon the cultists, lasguns barking at close range. They wasted no shots. One shot, one kill. - Eisenhorn: Malleus

Eisenhorn would have to be British since the charector clearly is.

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

I want Genndy Tartakovsky to make a series about 40k.
