In the old fluff there was mention of squat expskeleton armour that was as resilient as termie armour, is there any older books that would have these being used in battles or is all squat lore lost.....never to be re-learned

Anyone can wear Terminator armour, squat or not. There's a number of Inquisitors doing so; this equipment is just kind of expensive so you don't see it very often.

If that answers your question? Are you specifically referring to squats and their technology, or Terminator suits in general?

...urrrr... I dunno

Probably irrelevant, as Squats are no longer a thing in 40K.
However, sure, I guess they can, provided the design was modified to fit them.

What do you mean by "(are) there any older books that would have these being used in battles"? You mean novels, or old rules? The squats last officially appeared in 2nd Edition, so there were rules for Squat Exo-Armor in both Rogue Trader and in the 2nd Edition "Black Book" Codex. As far as fluff or novel appearances, not that I can recall.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Squat Hearthguard wore terminatoresque armor sized for them.

If that is what you were after.

You can find the rules and fluff about Squat Exo Armour in the old 40k rule book called the Warhammer 40k Compendium that came out around the same time as Realm Of Chaos did.

"How many people here have telekenetic powers raise my hand" - The Emperor, The council of Nikae

"Never raise your hand to your children, it leaves your midsection unprotected" - The Emperor

Yup, Squat Exo-Armour was a normal thing in the army, reserved for the Elite Hearthguard. The models were usually referred to as Exo-Squats.

In the 2ed rules, Terminator Armour gave you a 3+ save on 2d6 (there were no 'invulnerables'). IIRC, Exo-Armour have you a 4+ save on 2d6.
