For specifically WM related fluff, see Prime, Escalation, Apotheosis, Legends, Faction books, and Wrath. If you're looking for fluff regarding Hordes, mirror that.

For generic world info, the IKRPG core book isn't bad, but the World Guide is an excellent resource for an absolutely stupid amount of largely useless background information on the various countries of the Iron Kingdoms.

Hm.

Pick up the PDF of the world guide?

Or look for a copy of the hardback?

Decisions, decisions.

To start off though, just go for the current prime and primal books. Gives you a flavour of each faction and a history of what has happened in the ancient past and recently.

Don't forget the mk1 privateers book, it had an interesting bit of story that I'm sure will be touched on again sooner or later. There are also lots of tidbits in no quarter that don't get showcased anywhere else, but they rarely follow the narrative story of warmachine.
