Hey guys, first post from me so just thought id upload my list and see where I can improve it.

Astorath

10x Assault marines
1 power fist
1 plasma pistol

10x Assault marines
1 power fist
1 plasma pistol

5 Death company
1 power fist
4 power weapons
Lemartes

Deathcompany Dread
With talons and grapple.

Just wondering how I can improve what I have or what to get to make a strong 1500 or 1750 list
Any help is greatly appreciated

In this case both Astorath and Lemartes are a big point sink, as is the whole DC with PW. Also the DC don't come with JP, so that and extra 75 pts you need to spend, and the dread would start on the table. If you plan on starting the dread and the Dc on the table, they are going to spend 2 turns getting shot at before they can even reach you opponent and before the rest of your army comes down. They will not live long.

Dreads dont' work in a DoA list as they will get shot up on turn 1 or be in a DP and get shot up on turn 1 when they come in. The only soultion is having them in a Stormraven and then they still don't get the DoA rule.

If you want a pure DoA list it would be full of ASM squads with the standard PF, 2 x melta, maybe an Honour guard, maybe some vanguard vets.

If you want to run the DC, do a jumper list and not a DoA. Put the DC in a transport so rage doesn't affect them.

There are alot of good BA lists in the Army list section, take a look at what other people have done

The good news is that your core of Assault Marines is a good place to start an army, especially if you magnetized the backpacks.

The bad news is that you've made some very weak choices with the other stuff, and the component pieces of the army don't support each other very well. In particular, the Death Company are an expensive, underperforming points sink, and Astorath is a plain waste of points. The DC Dread is also a poor idea, as you don't have any other vehicles or a way to get it into combat quickly.

The guide in my signature outlines one path to an effective army that could use the bulk of what you have. The short version would be turning the DC Marines into Assault Marines, dumping the Dread and Astorath, and taking a Librarian HQ and several Sanguinary Priests with JPs. You can then supplement this core with more Assault Marines, Devastators with Missile Launchers, cheap Vanguard Veteran squads, and/or Honor Guards with 4 special weapons.

You also need to dump the Plasma Pistols and get some Meltaguns and Flamers into your Assault Squads.

Sorry I posted in wrong part, did it off my stupid iPhone.

All the models I put in that list have jps I just forgot to write it on.
I was thinking of putting 10 DC without jps in a raven with astorath and a dc dread on the back.
That way they'd get in combat and be effective.
Also I was toying with the idea of taking the jps off the normal assault men an putting them in rhinos. Thy way theyd be accross the board and in combat 2nd turn but
Not quite sure, I like the idea of jps and being able to move around quickly if I need to take objectives.

I was always thinking about dropping Asorath and putting in a cheaper more effective character, coz for 220 points I could pimp out a really good librarian or other HQ

I know mechs are really good ATM just I have a lot of models already and if I was to use them I'm not to sure how it would go down.

My total models are:

Astorath

20 assault marines
10 Dc with jps
Lemartes
5 sanginary guard
Dc dread
5 normal termies, (I don't intend to use unill I have assault termies) which is obvs wanna put in a land raider.
And a Devi squad with 4 lascannons (but i have a second squad I'm yet to build and can put other weapons on)

I like the ideas that have been given and I think will give a try.

Not a bad idea, watch out for the "too many eggs in one basket". That SR gets shot down, they are walking a long way.

You can't assault out of a Rhino, so unless your opponent makes a big mistake (running directly towards your ASM) You are still getting into combat on turn 3.

No cant charge out the rhino, but we can over power engines and go 18" and then next turn get out 2" and move 6, charge etc. Is that allowed?

You may need to turn the rhino at the start and the beginning to get the full 2'' disembark from the hatch. But yes I think you have go it
