Hello everyone. Having returned home from basic training and playing Warhammer again I have come to the realization many other frusterated Wood Elf players like me have come to endure, the fact that we desperatley need a new book. After getting absolutely walloped by a Skaven players future potential Ard Boyz list and talking with some friends and doing some research it came to light that both other elf armies can potentially easily OUTSHOOT the Wood Elves . With this realization and the help of a few friends I have been convinced to at least consider runing "Wood Elves" but with the High Elves book/rules JUST for Ard Boyz, basically I just want a chance at the upcoming tourney to actually place and advance. Or in other words "How Wood Elves should be able to shoot aka what they need!" Now before people call me a complete traitor I will be using Wood Elf models for this list and is my first attempt at creating this themed list idea so any help, thoughts, ideas and comments are welcome. Thanks for reading mates!

LORDS AND HEROES: 834pts.

-Teclis
*w/ Lore of Shadow

-Noble BSB
*w/ Heavy Armor, Shield, Great Weapon, Banner of the World Dragon

-Caradryan

CORE: 1460pts.

-x30 Archers
*w/ Banner of Eternal Flame, Light Armor

-x30 Archers
*w/ Light Armor

-x30 Archers
*w/ Light Armor

-x30 Archers
*w/ Light Armor

SPECIAL: 680pts.

-x20 Phoenix Guard
*w/ Full Command, Iron Curse Icon, Banner of Sorcery

-x5 Dragon Princes

-x5 Dragon Princes

TOTAL ARMY: 2999 POINTS

Tactics:

-Teclis is to dominate magic with help from Banner of Sorcery and cast Lore of Shadow from the safety of his archer bunker which also has the BSB with World Dragon banner. His job is simple, to primarily weaken the toughness of a single enemy unit where I will then focus fire all my archers onto and hopefully/should wipe out with 120 shots per turn will be running them in either a 15x2 or 10x3 formation). Sounds just like Wood Elves dont it?

-Basically its wash, rinse repeat this tactic while casting spells like Mindrazor on another archer unit to make their shooting attacks (I think) and their CC attacks if the need should arise strength 8 to deal with any oppnents that get close.

-Phoenix Guard Bunker to keep Banner of Sorcery alive and to add an added defense for my archers, same goes for Dragon Princes who can also run up the flanks and attempt to hunt warmachines if this is needed. Caradryan will possibly go here to give the unit a little extra in CC and magic resistance or with Teclis in archer unit to accept challenges if needed.

Now in regards to the fluff side of this as I stated above I will be using Wood Elf models to represent this High Elf Army. I figure with the models I will be using this army will both be devastatingly effective as well as keeping to the Wood Elf theme (which goes to show you if we even had access to Lore of Shadow it would make us that much more competitive). Also highly doubt anyone will complain about me using Wood Elves as High Elves (dont see what the big deal would be since everything will clearly be similar to what I am running but there is always one ). Anyways I will be using:

-Glade Guard as Archers: Kind of obvious but hey gives me an excuse to put 120 on the table.

-Spellweaver as Teclis: Again kind of obvious.

-Eternal Guard as Phoenix Guard: Out of all the High Elf units the Eternal Guard look the most similar to the Phoenix Guard (hoever EG are much cooler)

-Glade Riders (or) Wild Riders as Dragon Princes: One that I am sure will be pointed at the most but am also considering converting a few actual Dragon Prince models with some Wood Elf and other army bits to make them look more like Wood Elves.

Other then that tell me what you think and thanks for reading!

I would definitely include another lvl2 mage with high magic and the seer staff so you can get drain magic for free, and more importantly curse of arrow attraction. I would also probably choose flames of the phoenix for his second spell or shield of saphery. But you would do really well with having curse of arrow attraction in this list.

I agree that you might want another Wizard in the army. It would add some spell variety, and still leave you options if something were to happen to Teclis; it sounds like his unit would be a VERY juicy target if something could get to it.

A thought on the modelling: definitely include something with some heavier armor to stand in as Dragon Princes. The problem with using the Wood Elf cavalry models is that they already are so similar to High Elf Ellyrion Reavers.

Seems like it has the pontential to become a pretty competitive list, however I'm not a huge fan of HE archers as they are 11 points a model, but this list does have a lot of firepower.

* Your Lord choices are good (even though you took Teclis, who character equals= Broken, need to fix this guy), and the BSB and Caradryan are also a good mix in this army.

* Archer units look solid, however are you planning on running them in a 10x3 or a 5x6? And I'm not sure if Light Armor is worth it on these guys, so maybe drop it, which will give you an extra 120 points to play with.

* Phoenix Guard are always good and your units of DP I'm guessing are there to run around and slow the opponent down, but maybe a musician here just in case your rolls for LD dont go your way.

Overall, its an interesting list, and its very similar to one I was planning on running, except I will be running it with Dark Elf Crossbows, along with some Hydras, Black Guard, and a Cauldron of Blood. Anyways, hope this works out for you.

Am considering using Wild Riders and maybe greenstuffing some armor on them as I think they would fit the Dragon Prince's style in terms of number of attacks and strength on the charge and such.
