I come to you now as a somewhat seasoned painter in my mid twenties - I've been through that phase of buying every marine in sight and assembling them aimlessly, undercoating them and throwing them to the bottom of the pile. I've tried xenos armies, undercoated them and passed them along and done the same in Fantasy.

It's time now to start again, reboot and do it properly. I intend to model and paint an army I can be proud of and that leaves nothing unfinished. It's going to take some time!

The first squad I'll paint will be the Scouts. I'm trying to do something a little different with them, however, and I've built only one so far with that in mind.

As he receives paint, I'll update the blog. I also operate a seperate blog on painting, mainly in order to motivate me to improve and give me a break from power armour. Feel free to click the link in my sig for that.

No painting done as of yet but a few more pictures of things I have built and ready to undergo painting. The apothecary is my way of tying in the Alpha Legion to my SM army and is going to be painted as a AL posing as a Crimson Fist apothecary - a reminder that doom is around every corner!

The Razorback is a forgeworld MK1 Deimos Rhino with one of their lascannons on the back (I'm providing the anti-armour!)

Sorry about the quality - I swear to start taking pictures in daylight!

Just built the first sternguard squad - need another command squad box to build the second because I'm such a badman. An example!

And I've finished building the contemptor for my wider army. I'm not sure how I feel about this kit vs. a standard boxnought. In cold light of day terms, every FW kit is inferior to plastic kits and nobody could deny that. Once the base is finished (I want it kneeling on a stair and bending a pipe) I'll like it more.

Some painting today! Well, not much but in my defence. I'm painting them as well as my limited ability will allow!

Blue shade

Blue Base

Whole mini basecoated.

Now all I have to do is the actual paintjob! Need to start working on blending in some highlights and try NMM/TMM on the gun and chainsword - this being a sternguard sergeant! His face also needs a lot of work and there are a couple of areas that need cleaning up. I might apply some battle damage to him but I'm loathe to do so, perhaps I'll only dust up his boots.

More to come!

(And yeah the plate's excellent thanks - find model air metallic copper watered down seperates the pigment in it and auto-rusts!)

Wow, I've barely moved on with the models shown here so far! But here's some of what I have been doing!

Land Raider Proteus

It isn't finished but I bought an airbrush and saw the opportunity to get this bad boy 80% done in about an hour. I'm going to use it as the marker for the rest of my army in terms of painting them to match it.

Vanguard Veterans

Again they aren't finished, obviously. Here are the two paints used on them so far.

If anyone has any suggestions for me or just comments/criticism then I'd be glad to hear it. You can probably tell that I've abandoned the lighter "90's" theme and gone with the much easier (LOL) darker blue of the CF. I'll keep updating as and when I can but I'm also working on a Tau and Imperial Guard army! This CF army will ultimately be up for sale because I just don't have the space for all this effing warhammer in my bedroom.

Quick update on the Vanguard. Kantor Blue applied, the rest of today will be spent basecoating the trim!

Man, I should try and keep up my blogs! I'm going to really try and keep this one updated, weekly at least. It's on the whiteboard, really.

Here's what I'm working on right now, I almost posted this in P&M for some advice on weathering, I'm not very good at it!

What do you think? I want this thing to look as old as it's supposed to be and I'm finding the big oval space on the torso a real pain. I CAN'T leave that much space bare but I'm no good with freehand.
