So after years of frustration with the AOBR boxed set, and the lack of information on the interwebs, I have written up what I hope is a good tutorial on my blog. If you are tired of the way you're Space Marines look and you want to inject some spice into them check out the link:

Im a fan, and might try this. I really love what people have been doing with some of the AOBR stuff.

Glad I could help! If only I could've discovered this earlier, I would have hoarded the AOBR set!

Yes I am planning on doing another tutorial for the terminators, once I get the extra bits and stuff.

Nice
never thought about it

I did horde the AoBR.

Got 3 boxes at $42 a box, not to mention all those super cheap sets on eBay...
Used the Captain as terrain, painted him all gold on a little cake pull. Have about 15 Orc Helos, marines are unpainted/un built but I will try this to repose them,

The Good: 8,000
Ultramarine, Scouts, Blood Angels, Dark Angels
The Bad: 8,000
Chaos, Daemons, Dark Eldar, Orks

is it worth the effort?

what is the price difference between 5 AOBR marines?

i know 5 leg bits will run between 6-10 bucks.

- The full 10 man Tac squad from AoBR is about £14 from bitsstores, or £10 if you don't need a missile launcher.
- The 10 man Tac squad GW set is about £20.
- The 10 man Tac squad in bits is about £30, or £26 without the missile launcher.

(I'm sure you can find all three cheaper if you look).

Is it worth it? That's up to you really, but unless you think it looks like fun, I say don't do it.

I am with you on that one.... Save a few bucks and paint them in different ways. Put some with the Devastator Squad, and the others in a Rhino.... In real life, most soldiers look the same anyways, especially with identical helmets on.
