So I'm slowly unpacking my models and bitz and finally did my first model in the new house. I'm finishing the HH novel Nemesis and got on to the idea of assassins.

Which of course got me thinking about our supermodern legions of robot assassins stalking the skies.

There's a lot A LOT of controversy about them in the real world and this is not the place for that argument. But you have to admit drones raining death on unsuspecting cars, houses, apartments, weddings, funerals and the like is about as GRIMDARK as you can get.

So here's my modest take on the Predator for 40k

The body is from the IMEX chemical plant set, the wings from Robogear and the skull from an old plaster company called Mystic Moldwyrks. So basically I used bitz I've had lying around for 5-10 years.

In games it will count as a land speeder thought I might play around with custom rules for it.

Anyway, thoughts?

Seems a little "plain" for 'Grimdark'. Maybe a few more skulls!

Nice work! Truely looks like death from above!

I like the scratchbuilding spirit and the concept. And the front view. From the top though it looks a little 'squat' some how. Maybe more wings?

As much as "MOAR SKULLS" seems to be the mantra of the GW creative team, I find the nose a tad hokey. Even with that, it doesn't feel all that "40k," to me. As big as the skull, turbines, or fuselage are (compared to the wings, at least), the thinness and varied angles of the wings, as well as the sparse frontal cross-section have a certain un-Imperial grace to them. I expect similar surface detailing - angular forms, plating, rivets, etc. - but also a greater squareness and density (to disagree with kestral, it should look less flight-worthy, if anything, in order to look more appropriate).

I rather like the overall build, mind you (barring the aforementioned skull), but I'm a bit of a stickler for design conventions when working within an established framework, like one does with 40k.

The wings scream Tau, the turbiines scream Ork, the body and weapons seem IG, and the skull seems very SM. It looks like all of it would individually fit in 40k, but not quite together. I LOVE the concept, and would do a similar idea in a heartbeat if I had time though.

So you're saying my model cobbled together from bitz from a four companies looks like something cobbled together from bitz from four companies?

I dunno I'm hearing its both too areodynamic and not aerodynamic enough. And tau wings? They have bleeding rivets on them! Rivets!

Funny I know exactly the backpack you're talking about!

I think I still have him around somewhere...

Now that you mention it a GI Joe Cobra CLAW would be great wings for one of these.
