I didn't see a thread on this yet. I've actually played the beta and it was really fun. There's some info up on the Adepticon website also for anyone attending they are running demos.

This is pretty expensive. It's 100 bucks for a board game and 1 KS exclusive and a digital art book for those interested in that. And there's no lower pledge level. The miniatures seem pretty ex for a boardgame, coming in at about 8 bucks for KS pricing, which basically RRP for miniatures from Wyrd and other more established TT companies.

For a new company that has the product slated to come out in Nov...7 months from now.

Some nice minis, maybe I missed it but what level do you have to pledge at to order add ons? I like the cyber dogs and some of the other models, but find it hard to believe the prices especially because they haven't nailed down wether these will be metal, resin, or plastic.

I've pledged for these hounds. I wouldn't bat an eye at ordering them from a website for $10 apiece with free shipping . Having seen them in-person at AdeptiCon, the sculpts looked just like these renders.

As I said in the other thread before finding this one, the thing I was most impressed with by these guys at AdeptiCon, other than the fast gameplay, was how much they had finished- they already have sculpts and test casts for basically everything. It was pretty striking, and I think almost no one had heard of them before the convention. They've got a pretty large group of folks involved in the game and look quite likely to succeed to me, if they can get off the ground in this rather competitive kickstarter climate.

There is some serious 40K potential in that set of figures. Genestealer Cult and Arbites right from the basic figs. Right now you get the game and 25 figs for $100. That's fairly tempting. Still though it has the issue every kickstarter seems to have for me - can't quite get the figures I want at bargain price. The sniper is outstanding, but not worth the price combined with kickstarter risks. Though they seem small in this case.

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris Tavonatti, and I am one of the co-founders of Anvil Eight Games, and one of the lead designers for Aetherium. One of our KS backers, RiTides, made me aware of this forum. Since I've made a presence on Board Game Geek for our game, I've decided to join Dakka Dakka as well. I am here to answer any and all questions anyone has regarding us and Aetherium, so please, do not hesitate.

I'll start by answering Theophony's question: You can pledge at and level to get access to our add-ons. So if you see a mini or several that you like, but arent interested in the game, just pledge at the $1.00 level, and you can then add on any of the models we have available. All the models we currently have in the boxed game, are also available as separate add ons.

Yeah, checked this one out at Adepticon as well... Minis look great, board art loks great, and the whole mutable board concept is a nice little twist on the standard boardgame idea.

Good luck with the Kickstarter!

I see a use for about every miniature in the box- it's definately added to my watchlist. Won't take much to push me over the edge either.

@LordBorak

What material are the minis made of? If plastic, please specify what type of plastic. Thanks.

The miniatures at AdeptiCon were resin, but they said were not necessarily the final material. They gave out sample models and I was impressed by the casts.

Anything but restic is good in my book Restic is a dealbreaker unless it's something truly exceptional and there is no option for resin. I've learned my lesson - it's just not for me. I can see the point of it if it's strictly gaming though.

This one's not exactly cheap, but man oh man would I love to have those rioters. I have absolutely no use for them, but they'd be so much fun to paint.

I love cyberpunk. I probably won't back but I'll pick it up when it hits the EU. Customs kills all my dreams.

I think the price reflects the plan to have these made in a decent material (possibly resin) rather than restic, as you point out basement. Hopefully Chris from Aetherium who posted above can shed more light on this, too, even though I know things are not yet finalized.

Well experience has shown that high price and low quality are not mutually exclusive unfortunately Some light on the subject would be nice as some of the sculpts look exciting.

Love your name btw, haha. To answer your question. We are still in the process of deciding what our final material will be for our miniatures. We currently have prototype masters in resin and pewter. We are looking into several different manufacturing companies to see what will be the best fit for us. We have looked into plastic injection molding, but unfortunately the start up costs are ridiculous, and out of our price range right now. We will most likely be staying with resin or pewter. Both have their advantages and drawbacks. Pewter is easier to do large runs very quickly, but the cost of the raw material is at the whim of economy, and nearly impossible to plan around. Resin is a much more stable material in terms of cost and can get great detail, but it can take longer to cast larger orders, and mold release agents can be difficult to work with. Rest assured, we are diligently working to get this finalized, and will let everyone know as soon as we have made a decision. I would like to stress that we are NOT going to be changing to any sort of low quality plastic, i.e. that rubbery stuff or pvc plastic. Our intent from the start has been a game with war game quality miniatures, and that will not change. Not sure what restic is, so I can't comment on that.

@Zond

If you havent already heard, we are now EU to EU friendly. We have managed to secure a contact in London that will allow us to ship to them, and then they will ship to all of our European backers. This should help cut down on the customs shenanigans. If you are interested in the game or any minis, I would recommend pledging to the KS to be sure you get some. We are not sure when, if, or how long it will take use after release to get the game to the European market. While it is certainly a goal of ours to have Aetherium be worldwide, after the KS, the game will at first only be available through our webstore, until we can find some sort of distributor in Europe.

Also again, to everyone, if you are only interested in certain models, you can pledge at ANY level, including the $1.00 pledge, and then get any models you want as add ons for the add on price.

Thanks for everyone's interest. Again any questions, keep them coming.

That's all I needed to know. Restic is just a popularised term for the pvc plastics now common in the miniature world. It's a wholly inaccurate description of the plastic, but I think most associate pvc with the softer "rubbery" prepaint figures out there. Afaik it's the same material with a different composition of additives.

And I like my moniker too Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Yes, that is very good to hear! For resin or metal models the price is completely in line with what I would expect.

I am fine with metal, but there are gamers who seem to have an aversion to metal miniatures (those young lazy gits )

Ouch, griffen! If you weren't interested in the models getting multiples from doing the demos at AdeptiCon (I assume this is what you meant) isn't too cool.

Looking forward to seeing this get over that last $500 hump and funding! Still 12 days to go, but it'd be nice to enter the final week already funded.

Edit: And funded!!

I'd be interested in pledging if the material being used to produce these models was defined a bit further. What expansions are being considered for the game?

@Zond

Hi there. If you look a bit further up this forum, you'll see a post where I explain a bit more about the materials we are considering to make our final models out of. If you have any more questions about that, or if something is still unclear, please let me know, and I will try my best to answer them. As for expansions, our goal is to release new factions for the game, and continue to release models for any factions that are already available. Currently, we have 3 more factions in the works, one of which is now available from stretch goals to the $400 pledge level on the KS. After the KS is over, we will continue to work on these, with hopes of releasing them soon after the KS pledges are delivered. Again, if you would like more info, just let me know! Thanks for your interest!

I see that you're considering materials but I'm not going to pledge without a definite answer.
