Implacable Black Templar Initiate
Milky Way, Tingel Arm, Sol System, Earth, That dark shadow right behind you

Hey folks:
I stopped wargaming back in late 2010, and I'm now returning to 40K! I did a bit of surfing on the GW site and here, but I'm frankly a bit overwhelmed. I ran IG and BT armies, about 3k points each, and I'm wondering if I should stick with them, or switch, or what? Also, what are the big changes with the 6 ed. rulebook? I'm seeing a little bit of annoyance over to the new IG dex (no more Marbro? ). Anywho, any suggestions?
Thanks all!

Not for long. The polar bears are riding the melting glaciers south in search of penguin-steaks. |

Black Templar use the Space Marine codex now. I like the new options they have, but miss their unique stuff (Vows, holy hand grenade, veteran upgrades for some squads).
I'd start by picking up the rule book, new Astra Militarum codex, and space marine codex and just sitting down with them for a bit. Also, paint a few models to get back in the swing of things. You can always use your Marbo model for a bitchin' squad sergeant or an assassin from the Grey Knights book!
Read some battle reports. Go watch some games at an FLGS. Don't let interweb bitching get you down. Lots of us still have fun with the game!

Aww man, no more hand grenades!
Anyways, thanks for the advice! I'll certainly be picking up the codexs (codecies?), and that's a spectacular idea for my Marbro counts-as model, thanks!
Annoyingly, GW has closed my FLGS, so I have to go halfway across the city to go to one! Ah well, I guess it's not too far.

An assassin! Oh my god, yes!
I can just get Codex: Inquisition, field one or two bs troops choices, and have Marbo back! He can count as that shapeshifting assassin guy.
I friggin' love you, man. Exalted.

Codices.
And you should play the army you want to play. Things haven't changed that much.
As for the changes from 5th to 6th ed, I'll link you here. I'll also link you to this, and this which represent big shifts. Also, 6th ed basically killed hordes. MC-heavy and mechanized lists are even bigger than they were in 5th edition.

Thank you so much for those links, they're really, really helpful. Exalted!
