So, my FLGS owner is offering me a deal. I want your opinions on if I should take it.

$395 for:
3 Imperial Knights
1 Imperial Knight Codex

Regardless of your answer, feel free to impart any extra advice on how to play them/ model them up from your experiences.

You could also spend 395$ on units for an army.

That is the same as any of the online sellers will give you the same thing for (20% off). So you are not really getting an big savings.

I accidentally answered yes, I meant to answer no.

IK's are going for $115 on epsilon harbor, so you can get 3 for $345 and the codex is going for $30.

You can get everything for $375.

So IF you want 3 imperial knights and a IK codex AND you want to pay $20 extra to support your FLGS, go for it.

Otherwise, definitely no.

There are several one click collections on gw that are 1750 to 2500 pt armies, and getting the appropriate codex, would be at or under that...

If you want an IK army, go for it. It's a good deal, there are probably better ones elsewhere but yours is a certain improvement over GW's.

Not much point having 3 Knights - It's not much for Apoc, and nobody in friendly 40K games will want to play an all-Knight army. That's a lose-lose right there.

I've painted (most of) my Reaver and warhound by hand. There is a reason they are still not complete. But I finally got an Airbrush and used it on the knight, and it got most of the drudgery of painting large areas over with quickly, letting me get to the inks and detailwork far faster.

$400 would buy you a lot of booze, though it won't get you so far with hookers and blow. Tough choice, I'd probably go with the booze.

i have and it was amazing... cost of living in america is about half that of my home state... crazy. and thats without booze blow and hookers

OT, if you really want a knights army do it, if not.... maybe get 1 for allies itll all come down to what YOU want/need

If you've already got a Knight and enjoyed assembling/painting it and enjoy playing stompy stompy games, I don't see why you wouldn't get more of the suckers.

Knights aren't as powerful as most people claim. There are enough armies that can hurt them and there are tactics to counter them.

If anyone would refuse to play against knights that belong to a friend of mine, I'd laugh at them as it only shows that they'd be a bunch of kittens that are afraid of playing against something that looks scary.

If you like Knights, OP, you should go for the deal as it's pretty good and you don't have to deal with eBay, which is nice.

P.s. - Knights have some fancy fluff!

This is exactly what I'm thinking. OP could do so much more with $20.

There's a pretty nice Discount Games store online that offers some pretty great deals with free shipping. So just to compare what else you could get for less than 395.

A big no.

For almost 400$ you get 3 really expensive ''models'', a hardcover book with mostly pictures and everyone will hate you if you use them.

The savings alone make this tempting.

I bought one mainly because I wanted to paint it, but reading the rules it seems kinda messed up to take for low point games. To be 100% effective the knights need allies. At their prices you get pretty big gaps to fill point wise.

So if you play a lot of large games I would take them. If you want to paint a titan but not spend a ton I would get them.

I would strongly suggest not getting "upsold".

Get one model and I suppose you "must" have the codex to use the model...

See how the guy plays with one of your armies and see if you like it.

I have an airbrush and admit it is the better means to paint all those curved smooth surfaces or you will spend a ton of time applying washes.

I got some magnets in so I did not have to make the hard decision to commit to one type.

It is a lot of money to drop all at once.
