This is my first post, so thought I would have a go at adding an Eldar (Iyanden...) list I am planning on taking to a Throne of Skulls tourney this year

HQ
Spiritseer 70

TROOP
5 x Wraithguard (wraithcannon) with Wave Serpent Dedicated Transport (Scatter Laser) 280
5 x Wraithguard (d-scythes) with Wave Serpent Dedicated Transport (Scatter Laser or Bright Lance???) 330

HEAVY SUPPORT
Wraithknight with suncannon/shield/scatter laser (plays as my warlord) 300

LORD OF WAR
Lynx Super heavy with Pulsar and Shuriken Cannon 420

FORTIFICATION
Void Shield Generator with 3 Projected Void Shields 100

This comes to exactly 1,500 points and I would appreciate any input. I do know that I am short on scoring units...

Thanks

Scatter Lasers. More Scatter Lasers!

For real though, you are a bit light on AA, so stick with the TLSL on the Wave Serpents so that their shields can down fliers. The Lynx would also greatly benafit from a SL. Twin-linking that Pulsar is just too good to pass up.

Possibly drop the D-scythes from the wraithguard to pick up Holofiels, and Underslung Cannons for the Serpents. You already have good objective clearing abilities with your Wraithknight + Lynx. Keeping those Serpents alive is a must if your Wraithguard need to travel any kind of meaningful distance.

Thanks for the input. I do have some wraith blades painted up, as well as more wraithcannon wraithguard...

With two shots from the pulsar I did not think it needed twin linking actually. But you are right.... More scatter lasers!!!

Was considering the spirit stone for the seer, otherwise he will only be able to use iyanden primaries ech turn and no other powers

You know whats up with the lynx. Definitly not enough troops. I would drop the knight and the wraith knight for 3 or so dire avenger serpents (with scatter lasers). That would give you the anti air ur lacing, and give you better scoring

Well, its not a well-rounded force for such an all-comers tournament.
I'd drop the Lynx and equip the WK with the default weaponry. This gives you almost 500 pts to spend.

Sadly I have no painted Dire Avengers :-(. Would you use 10 man squad with Exarch? If so then the points start getting up around the cost of the Guard, which have higher toughness, better saves and are fearless (plus they super heavy kill for fun).

Without the Knight I fear the seer is the easiest slay the warlord possible :-(

Out of curiosity, what would you spend those free 500ish points on?

Thanks for your input

Will add I have yet to play this list, but I am hoping to get the chance in the next week or so (I am abroad for work)

Well, I'd go for a list like this:

Spiritseer 70

5 x Wraithguard (wraithcannon) with Wave Serpent Dedicated Transport (Scatter Laser) 280
5 x Wraithguard (d-scythes) with Wave Serpent Dedicated Transport (Scatter Laser or Bright Lance???) 330
5 x Wraithguard (d-scythes) with Wave Serpent Dedicated Transport (Scatter Laser or Bright Lance???) 330

Wraithknight with suncannon/shield/scatter laser (plays as my warlord) 300

3 Warwalkers w/ dual scatterlasers - 210

Total: 1520 pts.

War walker with scatter lasers? It is commonly held that you can't use one scatter to twin link another, weapons of the same profile are fired simultaneously. Perhaps scatter lasers/lances

You completely drop the lord of war? The plan for this is for it to be my knight hunter, and it is interesting you are the first to suggest dropping the void shield.

Hopefully you have recognised its only function is to protect the lynx :-)

My 2k list is like your list except with another lynx, 12 void shields and without wraith guard.

If your going for competitive rather then fluff (which you are) then drop the WG for units of 5 avengers, so 370-70=300, then take 4 units of 3 jetbikes, 300-204=96, drop the SC from lynx and buy a farseer with spear on foot, 106-105=1.

Now you have 6 scoring units, 4 of which can zoom last turn, a farseer to TL the lynx and maybe even fortune/invisible it.

Also if you want, drop the spiritseer with the points take a warlock council on foot (2) this will give the farseer some bodies to eat any wounds and still be easy to hide, or take a jetbike and MotLG and fly around!

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Had a chance to play this list... First game on a 6x4 the relic, tabled the opponent, won 6-2 and only lost the lynx (he drop pod assault with combi meltas inside the Sheild :-()

Second game I added the holo fields on the wave serpents. Crusade on a 4x4, tabled the opponent and won 9-0, only lost a single wraithguard and 4 wounds on the Wraithknight

These missions where random, so I was lucky there was not a high number of objectives. But happy overall, one thing I have highlighted is the danger of drop pods... But my knight will be close enough to counter that and the lynx should be able to withstand a number of shots with its Titan field

Regarding the lynx though, the first game had an imperial knight. First shot of the game was the stater laser, the second shot was the pulsar, which did 10 hull points of damage... One dead imperial knight :-)

You need to find 10 (or is it 15) points to give the lynx a scatter laser instead of a shuiken cannon, twin linking the lynx automatically.

So dropping the scythes +50, taking SL on lynx -10, taking HF on serpents -30 leaves you 10 for a SC on the serpent that goes ot to claim objectives.

Yep :-) that is the way I played it

lose the d-scythes, add 2 lots of holo fields and the scatter laser. leaving 10 points still to use...

Wraith Knights are terrible really, try taking fire prisms instead

Also Take more wraithguard

Ah, Wraithknights are really good. Way more durable and more shots than a Fire Prism..

What makes you think Wk are bad? Maybe you just played against a hard counter, it happens.

But all in all WK are great.

I won my games so far with that army, so it seams to work

Wraithknights are terrible? I have to strongly disagree, the heavy wraithcasnnon option has its limits, but the SL suncannon is an awesome troop killer and warlord choice

Agrees with ^^, though with the cannons the WK is meant for CC with his many S10 attacks, the shooting is just icing on the cake.

Tournement was successful for this list

I won all 5 games: 9-2, 14-5, 9-1, 10-0, 5-0

Came joint top for Eldar as well, only missed out on best of race on number of Favourite Game votes

But lost out to a nice guy (with a very similar list) and happy with the weekend. Now time to hit the Elysians for the next Tourney... Vulture built today

Congrats on the win!

A few questions on the tournament.

1) were there many flyers?

2) were there any other super heavies?

3) were there many FMC?

4) were there many hoards?

Hi Arbiter

1 - There was a couple of heavy flying lists, one with 6 or 7 Necron fliers, and a an IG Air cav army. But other than that no more than you might expect

2 - There was: 2 Warhound titans, 2 lynxes (including mine), a Squigoth, and a number of Imperial Knights, uncluding a knight army or two

3 - Not sure about that but there was the a Lord of Change Greater Demon of Tzeentch

4 - not too many, at least I did not see any I would class as 100% hordish

Thanks for getting back to me on that one (though you can pm me so you won't revive a dead thread)!

Also i'm guessing you didn't fight the necron flyer spam?
