I'm starting to give henchmen a go, and I think adding some fluffy Red Hunters would make them even more killy. Let me know your thoughts!

Grey Knights

HQ
1- Coteaz
1- Ordo Malleus Inquisitor in TDA: stormbolter, hammer, psybolts, lvl 1 psyker, 3 servo skulls
TROOPS
1- Inq. Warband: 8 psykers, 1 bolter/carapace acolyte, Chimera
1- Inq. Warband: 8 psykers, 1 bolter/carapace acolyte, Chimera
1- Inq. warband: 3 Plasma servitors, 1 Jokaero, Chimera
1- Inq. Warband: 5 Jokaero, Chimera
1- Inq. Warband: 3 bolter/carpace acolytes, Laz-Plaz Razorback
HEAVY SUPPORT
1- Dreadknight: Incinerator, teleporter, greatsword
FORTIFICATION
1- ADL

Red Hunters

HQ
1- Chapter Master: bike, artificer, stormshield, thunderhammer, combi-grav
TROOPS
5- Bike squad: 2 Grav Guns, sarge w/ Combi-grav
HEAVY SUPPORT
7- Devastator Squad: 4 Lascannons

Plan is to park the heavy guns behind the ADL, with Coteaz with the Jokaero squad, and the other Inquisitor with the Plasma Servitor squad. The Psyker squads advance on a flank, since they can move and shoot, along with the bikes and Dreadknight. Spam Prescience and shoot my enemies off the board. The Red Hunters give me the versatility to pop vehicles, flyers, or monsters, depending on what I face. If I know that I need more tanks popped right away, I'll put an inquisitor with the Devastator squad instead of the Plasma servitors, since GK and Red Hunters are battle brothers.

I love taking advantage of the red hunters chapter tactics. I dont know if points allow, but centurions with skyfire or interceptor via the chapter tactic is super nasty.

Hey Homeskillet !! I saw your battle report in youtube you 've posted as I was searching for ideas as I intend to add some Red Hunters in my GK with Inquisition army .. Great Report really enjoyed it !!

So I was about to post a new thread about this..Then I saw this thread and thought why I don't just post it here instead ..

Now I usually play 2k points so this is the list :

Primary Detachment GK :

Hq:
Mordrak + 3x Ghost Knights w/ 2x NDH 320
Coteaz (Divination) 100

Elites:
Techmarine w/ Rad Grenades + Phychotroke Grenades + Power Weapon (I use sword) 115
Vindicare Assassin 145 (In a bolstered ruin for 2+ cover)

Troops:
Henchmen Squad : 7x DCA w/ Power Sword + Power Axe + 4x Crusaders w/ Power Axe 165 (Techmarine joins here)

Fast Atk:
Stormraven w/ TL Assault Cannon + TL MM + Hurricane Bolters + Psybolts 255 (Techmarine + Hencmen here)

Heavy Support:
Dreadnought w/ 2x TL Autocannons + Psybolts 135
Dreadnought w/ 2x TL Autocannons + Psybolts 135

Allied Detachment Red Hunters (I want to paint them Excorcists colors but use RH Tactics) :

Hq:
Librarian w/ Terminator Armor + Force weapon (maybe Axe) + Storm Shield + Mastery LVL 2 125 (He joins Mordrak but don't really know which Psychic Powers)

Elites:
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ Power Fist with built in Heavy Flamer + Chain Fist with built in Heavy Flamer + Drop Pod 180 (Drop Pod assault first round)

Troops:
5x Scout Squad w/ 5x Camo Cloaks + 5x Sniper Rifles 70 (In the bolstered ruin along with Vindicare for that 2+ cover)

Heavy Support:
5x Devastator Squad w/ 4x ML 130 (here goes Coteaz for re-rolls)

So the above units come at 1875 points but I need to fill at least one more Troop choice in the GK Detachment in order to be legal .. Now I was thinking of a 5 man GKSS with Psycannon and NDH + Blind Grenades for the Techmarine .. I can also add some more henchmen but I'm not really a psyker fun .. Maybe some Warrior Acolytes with Plasma Guns and some more with Bolters in a Razor or Chimera .. Don't really know .. The Ironclad and the other Psyfledreads are personal choices as I really love Dreads but you can always swap them for 2x DK with Teleporter + Incinerator

So any advice or some constructive ideas??

@ ninjafiredragon: agreed, I absolutely love the CT and the look of Red Hunters. The only problem for me is not being able to buy all the models I want to field a full army, lol.

@ spectral: glad you like my batreps, keep watching and subscribe if you haven't already! I love doing them, I hope it gives people ideas as to how certain lists work (or don't work) and against what armies. As to your list, are you going for funsies or competitive? That will greatly influence any advice I can give you. Either way, you definitely need more than 2 troops, so I'd fill out the remaining points with cheap acolytes in chimeras or razorbacks to keep them protected. Henchmen are deadly, but they are also squishy, so you need a bunch of them to weather fire (or vehicle splosions) and claim objectives.

In most of my lists I try to be more fluffy than competitive.. Maybe is how I like to play the game .. Semi-competitive is my general goal .

For example having Scouts in an Exorsists Detachment is a must IMO as it's a chapter that has 2 more Scout Companies while I think a Deva Squad is cool and effective at the same time ( especially if I have to deal with Flyers as I can give Skyfire with RH tactics in comparison to the ADL which I really hate ) .. Dreads are Dreads !! One of the main reasons of why I like the game .. Having GKSS over henchmen is for Warp Quake only which I find useful in my local meta.. I can see you like bikes but I leave them to WS or DA .. Another example is that I like Mordrak for his abilities overall but I prefer him than an Inq with Psychic Communication in order to bring the Raven 2nd round (or 3rd depending the situation) .. I know the difference between a 200+120 points HQ and a 63 points Inquisitor w/ Power armor + mastery LVL 1 but he also has Grand Strategy to counterpoise his points .

You see what I mean?? All in all the list represents my play style . I know you have your own methods but if you find any cool and in the same time effective ideas to share I would appreciate I know little about marines and having Vindicare and Psyfledreads I haven't even considered to give them Tank Hunter like you did in the report (really good tactic by the way I was amazed!!) ..The Libby is another thing .. I got no idea what powers I should generate from . I dont even know if a Captain is better overall ..

I play Red Hunters primary with GK and Inq allies, and one of my favorite units is the Contemptor Mortis dread.. Giving it tank hunter is awesome, I specially when an outflanking transport (speeder, rhino , etc) comes on and gets blasted.. No one expects it since the dreads also can be affected by their CT.

I also like to give the chapter master the hatred buff for going off into cc. I also second the Centurion comment.. They are nasty with these CT as well.. Monster Hunter and Skyfire are brutal:

How has GK and Red Hunters been treating you? I have been itching to get a game in using their tactics.

Let me know how it goes!

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

With your not minding the competitive side, I think your list is just fine, aside from still being a bit light on troops for a 2k game. I also really like Strikers as well, up until recently I've played exclusively PA and TDA grey knights. And yes, one of the things that pushed me into allies was being able to take bikes. How can you not like SPACE MARINES ON MOTORCYCLES??? Modrak is a stud, I love playing games with him; his only downside being that for his points you really have to build a list around him (for competitive play). As to your list, I think you should try and get some shooty powers for your Libby and use him to tank AP2 shots on the Stormshield to weather fire until T2 assault. Drop them in next to an infantry squad and melt them, or use the Libby's powers to shoot rear armor of some vehicle. A captain with a stormshield and combi-melta might be a good buy to attach to them as well.

Agreed on both the dread and Centurions. I didn't have any points to spare for my list (and I dont own any Centurions..$$$), but those two units make great use of Red Hunters tactics. Particularly with the dread already having Skyfire, giving him Interceptor will make for a good flyer-killer.

@FinkleLord
Not sure if you meant me or the OP but my thoughts on them are as follows:

- A Devastator squad becomes so much more useful, and let's face it, who doesn't love 4 lascannons dropping a MC, tank or even flier?
- The CT works on dreads, so taking a Contemptor Mortis with tank hunter is awesome.
- I like pairing a RH IC with a GK strike squad because you can then convey monster or tank hunter to those guys.
- the GK as allies really add a lot and don't have
To be the main force; you can still get a Stormraven for anti psykers (mindstrike missiles), a solid troop (strike squad) with psy cannons, Coteaz and some cheap henchmen that score, and even a dreadknight if you want. I find it more beneficial to have RH as primary so you can double up on good
Marine things like TFCs, scouts in speeders, and lascannon devastators

Really anyone who has played them but I can see the synergies between them.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

Just got my first game in with this list against a crazy Tau/Eldar combo of 3 riptides, rail gun broadsides, The Avatar of Khaine, and a Wraithknight. Coteaz seized the initiative and it was off to the races from there. This list absolutely dominated, with all the Prescienced Lascannon and Plasma Cannon fire, and the Psychic Barrages. The Grav Guns on the bikes wreaked havoc, and the Chapter Master tanked something like 20 wounds for the squad, eventually taking out a Riptide in close combat. The Devastators used their CT to take Skyfire and shoot my opponent's Barracuda out of the sky. All in total, he managed to pop 2 Chimeras; it was crazy.

Good to hear!

Mind me asking what you use for psykers?

Coteaz was one, and an Ordo Malleus inquisitor for the other.
