Hey mates. With my Bretonnian's finally built and only thing I'm waiting on them is to get them painted (Looking for places in Annapolis/Baltimore area that paint Warhammer Armies fyi), I have decided to shift my focus on to getting the first Army done in support of my Scion Airborne Formation, which is going to be the new Astra Militarum list. Using the Cadian Hostile Environment Troops from Forgeworld, I plan to utilize an effective IG list to work with the Airborne Formation from the Scion book, as honestly who doesn't like the potential of 4x Flyers coming in a single turn . Right now at the moment, I currently have:

* Scion Airborne Formation: 4x Valkyries w/Lascannon, Rocket Pods, 1x Commissar, 1x Scion Command Squad, 3x 5-man or 10-man Squads of Scions (Depending on Points).

* 2x Squads of 10-man Hostile Environment Cadians

* 2x Armored Sentinels w/Lascannons (Can switch them out for Autocannons or Plasma Cannons if I need to).

Not a bad start if I say so myself. Basically plan to get more Cadian Guardsmen to start out from Forgeworld to fill out my army a bit more, however besides that I am not sure what would be the best way to run them in support of the Airborne Formation. I like the idea of running a lot of squads w/Heavy Weapon teams defending an objective while my Airborne formation flies on with Wyrvens and Sentinels in support, however I am also a fan of the idea of the Veteran-Chimera list, as it would be a nice addition to help my Scion Squads take enemy objectives. I have a lot of options with the new Astra Militarum book but all help and opinions are appreciated mates.

The Astra Militarum book is going to be the first of many Imperial Armies that I plan to run with my Scion Airborne Formation. Currently plan to add a Coteaz Henchman list from the GK's, and also have a Drop Pod Space Wolf list in the works to go with my Airborne Formation, which I tested out and it is just brutal for opponents to deal with, as well as Sisters of Battle, Dark Angels, and Space Marines possibly done the road. This will alow me to utilize multiple Imperium Armies and be able to try different things and different list, which should be a lot of fun as it will give me flexibility in games, tournaments, and army lists in general. Plan to get a Scion army as well in the future as another option as well, but it will be awhile as I want to mix and match for a bit to mix things up.

Hey, I'm sorry but I'm not going to be of much help with this post. I haven't gotten my hands on anything Scion related yet :(. But I'd recommend posting what you have/ what you plan to accomplish over onto the 40k army list section.

Not to get off topic, but do you know what paints would be required to get that color scheme?

What do you mean by Color Scheme? I plan to use the Cadian Hostile Environment Troops as my standard Guardsmen, and I have been debating on painting them either the Harkoni Warhawks scheme or maybe Red Armor with Black/Dark Grey fatigues to make them stand out more on the table top. Besides that, I posted it on here as I am not looking to build an army, but look for tactical advice on what options in the new Astra Militarum book would best fit when using the Airborne formation from the Scion book. Please stay on topic.

I'm sorry. I thought you were referring to this color scheme:

t would go with as many bodies you potentially could put on the table as possible. With your Airborne Formation being so expensive pointwise that would be the only way to go, granted if you have the points taking Pask and an escort tank wouldn't be a bad idea either. if you're going with the mechanized formation mech that Guard army would fit well with them, it all depends on your preferences how much you want to spend. There are several good threads on tactica for the Imperial Guard you should check out. Also look at low point army lists on the Army List section of the forum to get some ideas.

What force are you using as your primary detachment? That is the one thing that I don't like about the Tempestus formations, they are not your primary and so you can't use one as your warlord. I would probably use AM with a CCS and a couple of platoons to hold the line while you wait for the Scions. Throw in an Officer of the Fleet so that they come in sooner. I am trying a similar thing, just without valkyries as I only own one.

You could actually use a MT Formation and the a Primary Detachment of MT if you wanted.
