I am starting making terrain for my table at home and wondering what would make this board better or what to work on next. I am thinking of putting the little hills you see on top of the cliffs. Then making 2 ruined buildings for the other corners, high enough for LOS to models on top of the cliffs.

Do vehicles need a way up or down the cliff? If so how would you go about it? Anything you guys can think of to make this board fun to play on.

I think having no vehicle movement up or down the cliff may cause some interesting deployments. You could build some kind of a ramp on the middle, so the middle of the bridge becomes a point of contention. You could make some difficult/ dangerous terrain so that foot troops can go down into the ravine. This would make some interesting play. If you are making this idea, you could extend the size of the cliffs.
Thanks,
David

It needs life.

Bushes, hedges or trees etc. Too many 40k boards lack life.

Need to block LoS. That board will have heaps of turn 1 casualties if my games are anything to go by. Adding life like above will help.

But its a great start and at least you have height on there.

In this day and a, you want a ton of LoS unless you wanna lose consistently turn 1

Nothing more fun than tabling an opponent

As others have mentioned, it needs LoS blockers. At this point, it's a killzone. Line your shooters along the top of the buildings and bomb down upon people. It's dramatically in the favour of shooty armies with the only real ways to assault being through open fields and a chokepoint (that and flyers who have to wait a turn to assault now). It needs a way to go up and down not only for vehicles but also infantry. It also needs some things to spruce it with life. Trees, hedges, maybe some craters. If you can layer with water it could have some to represent bombed fields from ages ago that have been filled with water. Stagnant ponds!

That and slap some paint on the platform to make it look cooler. That said, it looks rather cool!

Thanks everybody! Yeah I just started the board just a few days ago. I'm currently working on the center part. The pink brick will be a crane and I'll probably get rid of the pipe on the other side and make a ramp/elevator depending on space.

The cliffs I was playing as just like going up a level of ruins. Difficult terrain and need 3 inches to make it up or down.

Yeah it does need bushes and trees too, I just have to figure out how to make those. Clueless on trees.

For LoS blocking I was planning on making at least 4 large ruins tall enough to block LoS of stuff on the cliffs, probably incorporate more bridges and ramps to some of these for more ways to get up and down. The center will be built up a little more as well. Some cargo containers and other random stuff to block LoS.

I was going to make a bunch of craters for the ravine but that's only a 6+ cover save so maybe going to make "rubble" piles to give a 4+ cover. Maybe a forest if I can figure out how to make one. Anything to help assaulty armies make it to the other side.

Thanks again for the comments so far, it really helps to have more views than just mine and I will be using the ideas you all give

Oooooo large buildings! I'm not sure how well it would work but I can't help but love the image of having little ramps for units to move to get into the buildings as infantry oriented shortcuts so to speak.

Just break off some branches (like small ones) cover them with PVA and dip it in flock (and add some flowers here and ther or apples) and it should look nice. Just be careful as they will be frail compared to purchasable trees. But yet again easily replaceable.

Trenches are also very cool and cheap to do.

Yeah I was thinking of having ramps from the cliffs to some of the buildings which would go to the ground level. I just have to make everything haha thanks again.

@Swastakowey - Good idea for the trees and I like the idea of trenches. Got everything I need to make those right now.

I love city fights. The more terrain you have the better IMHO. The same with woods and stuff.

Yeah, I think some ramps leading up to the cliffs might be nice. Some more terrain on the ground wouldn't go amiss. I really like the tiered outcroppings you did. A forest or a lake or something would be nice. An earlier poster mentioned adding a touch of life, and I think that might help.
