A friend of mine is getting Caine 1 had having looked at what Caine can do it has me a bit worried. I was wondering what are my options to minimize the damage out put that he can do.

Well which casters do you have the most experience with? Do you guys play 2 lists, or just say 'I'm probably bringing X' before you play?

Butcher 3 and Epic Sorscha are the two Warcasters that I play the most (only been playing since February). Usually we put together our list right before we play though we do ask which caster we are playing before we start building our lists.

Caine 1 is no where near as bad as Caine2. So consider yourself lucky. But what caster are you using? If you are using Butcher or Karchev then Caine won't be able to crack your armour. If you are going against Caine then try to go a little Jack heavy. -10 to his damage rolls means that he won't be shooting at the jacks.

-10 to damage rolls on Khador jacks? I think you mean -8, right? He's POW 12. And yeah, unless its eCaine on feat turn, he isn't trashing a Khador jack. And Butcher3...what do you normally run with him? His ability to mince the enemy army would work well against Caine I imagine, who likes to take things like stormblades or long gunners, stuff like that. Things that don't want to get hit first.

How to deal with pCaine.

Armour, lots of Armour.

pCaine really needs his army to do the armour cracking for him. pCaine's feat is all about killing infantry not jacks.

Usually what I run with Butcher 3 is a Devastator, Winter Guard Death Star, Kayazy Assassins with unit attachment, Greylord Ternion, Kayazy Eliminators or instead of the KE I take pEiryss for 35pts.

You will tend to want high ARM units and jacks against pCaine. But it does depend a lot on what else he brings.

WG Death Star, Kayazy are all pretty much stuff Caine and his list can deal with, with access to Deadeye it just gets round your high def.

Go with armour, so Black Dragon IFP are probably the best choice as with their min-feat they will be ARM22 in shield wall. I am surprised you are not running a Bokur which seems to be an auto include for the Butcher3 lists I have seen.
