My bud and I have finally started to breach 2k points each for my Orks and his DA. Any DA players out there, what do you hate to see the most most from orks? I have a decent amount of speed/vehicles, a good amount of dreads and kans, and around 120 boys. What bothers DA most? Having trukks and a BW roll up on him last time gave him fits, so that seems like the way to go?

the way to go against any meq...

counter jump packs/bikes with 3 times their number of boyz.
rokkit launchas = occasional dead marine for 5 points each.
power klaws secretly compete to spill the most blood/motor oil, which they usually spill a lot of.
I dont use kans/dreads so i kan't help you there, (just power klaws & the like.)
Make the warboss nice and choppy, he kills more 'umies that way.
Oh and obligatory MANz missile mention.

I'll tell you what we love seeing because we will rip it apart like a kid opening presents on his birthday. And maybe this will give you an idea of what to counter with:

We love mobs, especially without fearless buffs. Angels have lots of fear generating tools at our disposal and we have lots of pieplates. We can really ruin your day in that regard.

We love seeing your kanz, because their so inferior to most things in our arsenal in the right context. So is fielding kanz and dreads a bad idea; no. But picking their loadout carefully and making sure their in the right place at the right time will make them relevant to the fight.

We love not seeing power klaws (though our terminators laugh at your silly klaws! So keep them apart)

We love not seeing lootas

We love not seeing your flyers. (because ours suck!)

If he brings bikers you could be in some trouble. Ravenwing hit like a brick and can lay open huge holes in your armies position on the map. If he gets first turn take to the upper level of structures as much as you can to avoid direct line of fire.

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

This and then some.

Unless your totally meched up, your worst nightmare is a bolter banner or whirlwind spam. Both will simply waste hordes of boys and anything out of a wagon/trukk. The former is fairly common, but more than 1 wind is exceedingly rare. If you see either take them out ASAP.

Land raiders are difficult for orks to deal with, and DW raiders are some of the toughest around, so you need to load up on AT if you expect even one. A decent player probably won't let MAN's or anything else with more than a 1-2 PK's get close, and your tankbustas only glance on a 6. Keep this in mind.

Terminators/bikes can be drown in dice, but be aware deathwing knights are T5 and carry mauls, but a large enough boy squad can still overwhelm them. All DA are either stubborn(with ATSKNF) or fearless so know CC is yours to lose. Ravenwing will break away and bolter you down since they all have hit and run.

Otherwise you are dealing with textbook marines, so plan accordingly.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I play against DA very often and i can assure you, if he uses a lot of ravenwing, whoever charges will decide the fate of the bikes... if he gets firs turn, MAKE SURE that you charge his biks, not the other way around and with a many boyz as possible, if you have enough fast/jump inf/bikes, your manz missiles will probably get through because of pure target saturation.

Going to play devils advocate, but if you want to be a good player don't tailor your list. It is not really fair to the other guy. For example you bring a lot of boys to overwhelm a terminator heavy list, next week your buddy shows up with three whirlwinds and heavy flamers everywhere.

The point is, your going to play against a lot of different types of armies. Tailoring is not what will make you a better player, coming up with a list you like, that is well rounded and can handle all sorts of threats, then learning how to use that list against variouse types of oppenents will make you a better player.

On that note, you have to know what your opponent is bringing. The DA codex is a well done codex because it can bring several list types and still be competitive. If he is bringing revenwing, bring heavy armor, and lootas. If he is running termies, bring a lot of boys to overwhelms them. If he brings land raider spam, then your going to want mobile armor killing stuff.

My advice however still stands, try to build a list that can take on anyone, not just a tailored list to mop the floor with your friend. The game isnt fun when it is over on turn 3 because your opponent knew what you were bringing and list tailored.

Hope this helps and happy wargaming!
