So which list do you like better? I am leaning towards #1 because of how many marines it puts down range instantly. I feel like a Salamanders list can do this same thing, but the Preferred Enemy: Orks and Objective Secured is too good to pass up... Plus at 2500pts I plan on adding some Heavy Bolters and more tactical marines.. Who knows.

#1:

Pedro (Warlord)

10 Sternguard- Combi-Melta x3, Heavy Flamer x2, Drop Pod

9 Sternguard- Combi-Flamer x2, Heavy Flamer x2, Drop Pod (Pedro here)

Scout Squad- Bolters, Combi-Melta, Land Speeder Storm

To be honest I came up with this particular list because it works well with the army transport foam that I already own. Great suggestion though, I could use a flier.. Might have to be a Stormtalon if anything. Raven would be too much to carry around lol

This list looks pretty brutal to be honest. I like it. Simple, straightforward and makes great use of the Chapter Tactics.

Love it.

Not knowing exactly how you intend to use the units here are my thoughts.

Definitely try this out before adding a flyer. I really like the 8 Str 7 Tank Hunter anti air squad and think that will serve you really well.

I think your Scouts would benefit more from Sergeant upgrades (Ie combi-weapon, melta bombs) than the Heavy Bolters.

Drop a Sternguard to make room for Pedro and switch their combis to Flamers as you won't be able to combat squad so you'll want their role to be unified. This unit will be very good at landing near their best melee threat as the combo of "Wall of Death" and Pedro's melee buff will be tough to crack after your alpha strike.

use the points saved by dropping the Sternguard and Heavy Bolters to outfit the Scout Sergeants as previously described.

If you go with just combi-weapons on the Sergeants you should have enough left to upgrade the empty pod to a Deathwind Launcher making it far more useful than just a tax to drop both Sternguard turn one.

Eldarain, you have been a lot of help in working this out. I will be taking your advice seriously to create my core 1850 list and I cant wait to go to 2500 (just adding stuff purely for fun after 1850)

Happy to help. I look forward to seeing it take shape.

I love your test marine. My camera does the same thing with shiny models (I use a similar process for my glossy effects) so I can tell how he looks in person.

Your army will look really striking once finished.

I like 3 in pods, better field coverage. Allows you to be a little more flexible on where to have your units and can capture more obj, especially since the DP get to cap obj aswell

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato
