I'm not a huge Fantasy fan, did play a little years ago but not since and never had my own army but it seems from the GW new release tonight being the biggest bad guy in the universe that they are making the bold move of progressing the story somewhat.

It looks to me a move equivalent to 40k being given the Primarchs back (even down to the crazy points cost!)

Is it possible we could see 40k finally move forward 6 months....

I would think that if that was their intention, they would have done it at the start of 7th ed. Who knows though, maybe it'll happen in time for 40k 9th edition.

It's a setting, not a story.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Actually, from what I read this is Fantasy following 40k, in that it looks to be equivalent to Demonology (lore of Undeath allowing zombie/skellie summoning to all), Apocalypse (super powerful heroes and looser army organisation) and the introduction of almost-allies (TK and VC in the same list)

Also, hasn't WFB fluff generally been more progressive than 40k?

Way I understand it, 40k is setting and various parts seem like tiles on a larger floor, parts advance but setting is pretty static.

Parts may move forward in codex's etc but things like general grim darkness and basic plot elaments change very little.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Perhaps this is the more sensible way of looking at it.

It just confuses me that they are so determined not to move it forward, I mean there are literally tens of thousands of us who would be sat credit cards at the ready if they woke up the Primarchs or brought back some Eldar gods etc.

I understand the setting/story argument however I think it goes well and truly out the window when the company make millions from selling books telling stories...
