I used to have 3x 3 jetbikes and exarch on crimson hunter instead of crushing blow and the SC and SS, SL on the wraithknight but i think the change improves the list. Otherwise what do you think?

Wraithlords are meh, since they have a mediocre damage output.
The Avatar is also rather slow.
I'd drop both MC's and add some more mobile elements to the army.

I like the avatar and wraithlord if you run them as a pair. Since it is a fun army you should make it an iyanden list, give the farseer the wraithforge stone and make the wraithlord your warlord. The wraithlord being the warlord makes him a target which is great for everything else in your army, especially the avatar, because the WL can take a LOT of firepower. Toughness 8 is great. And since his damage output is not great the only really bad part of losing him is giving up slay the warlord.

I agree the Wraithlord / Avatar pair is a good idea - anything in the centre of the board can be theirs in melee by turn 3 ... they can also hide - something a wraithknight can't do.

May I say though, you are highly vulnerable to poison (tyranids, dark eldar) -- across the board

Also 5 Dire avengers won't do anything but give you a wave serp. I personally take 10 Guardians for a "dump n pump" it's slightly more points, but 20 str 4 shots that rend is quite a nasty thing to get for 90 points.. it's situational (once per game, maybe twice) but they can get there intact, and slaughter infantry survivors and usually (if you use them right) they don't have anyone left to shoot back at them.

So I would consider dropping(maybe the 2 scatter lasers on the wraithlord?)

lastly, and this is a general point, you can take a lot more than this for 1500 ... there is a list I used that had 21 hull points in it plus a wraithlord plus wraithguard plus 20 guardians .. I am not being smug I am just letting you know - in general - this list feels "points hungry" in a bad way.. eldarcorsair (youtube) has the best most optimised lists I have seen.. it is staggering what he can field on 1500

Thank you for the responses everyone, I understand that its bad to build your army to beat one particular opposition but I sort of have. My friend plays Tau and he has the Deathstar in his army so I am thinking I will keep the Avatar back in cover until he deep strikes it and then I will charge in with him and a wraithknight if the avatar doesn't get there. Also I don't want to pay $100 for the Wraithforge Stone.

Ya I don't see why you would do this. Your whole army is mobile so you should be moving forward against tau. The chances of him deep striking his deathstar anywhere near your avatar and not near the rest of your army is pretty much 0. If you are going to go avatar/ wraithlord, you need to be moving them

I don't understand what you mean unless you are talking about the price of the iyanden codex and maybe a spiritseer. I just write down wraithforge stone on my army list and *poof* my farseer has one. For the record i also don't have the iyanden codex

Yeah, but if he says what does the Wriathforge stone do and how many points is it am I meant to just search it up on the internet and use that.

I have worked out taking the avatar will work in my favour.
Deathstar will deep strike 18inches away (the distance of his fusion blasters) then shot at all my guys, my guess is a wraithknight.
Then the wraithknight will end up on maybe 2-3 wounds.
Ok my turn the Wraithknight moves 12" towards the group, he shoots. he runs 2D6 in the assault phase with re roll because he is jump unit.
So unless he gets horrible rolls he gets into close combat.
Wraithknight holds up the unit for the avatar to get there I would guess if he is lucky he will get there turn 2 otherwise turn 3.
so yeah

Tau battle suits (apart from Broadsides) get to make a 2D6 thrust move in the assault phase just like Eldar Jetbikes, so he'll likely be >18" away if he's got sense.
Also, if you use the Jump of the WK in the movement phase (moving 12" instead of the normal 6", you can't use the re-roll in the assault phase.

Ok then well that makes me sad. So I'll get it with a group of jetbikes.

Hey partner. He doesn't get a 2D6 assault move. That's JET pack infantry not JUMP. He doesn't get to re roll his run move either he isn't fleet. He gets a re roll to assault if he does NOT use his 12" jump in the movement phase.

for the wraithforge stone the rules are pretty simple, here's link to 3++ where they talk about the rules :

http://www.3plusplus.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=2473

Also the wraithknight would probably be in combat for at least 2 turns before the avatar makes it

Ok, thanks Rx8Speed i will get the wraithforge stone now and yeah isnt that what i said he would be there 2-3 turn.
Also Lobbywatson, i am going by my 6th ed rulebook but i believe that a jump unit can move 12 inches with his jump pack and in the assault phase he can move 2D6 but no re roll (sorry i did get the re roll part wrong)
