I remember in the old codex that space wolves used to get cheaper plasma guns in their units. Do they still get that?

Nope.
Plasma weapons in particular weren't cheaper, it was special weapons as a whole (including flamers and meltas). Nobody could quite figure out why they were cheaper, it just contributed to the issues of GH's being massively undercosted next to their counterpart equivalents, and that's gone with the new book.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

Ah ha that's no problem
Can just ask. Without space wolves having access to stern guard, can they still do drop pod alpha strike type tactics?
Maybe with wolf guard?

Space wolves can still field 2 special weapons in a unit of GK and they can all ride in a pod.
Wolf guard can all take combi weapons in a pod.
Dreadnoughts in pods
terminators in pods
Allies in pods

They can do it better, since they can get drop pods as a fast attack option and stuff whatever they want with them.

I wasnt sure whether it was the stern guard which made it the better option, with them having access to melta weapons. I've not have the most thorough look through the book yet

Sternguard are a great option because of their special bolter ammo, which after firing combi weapons they can use their useful ammo. Wolf guard do not have this, so when they drop and fire their combi- weapons they are basically grey hunters with 1 more attack. Also sternguard can combat squad out of a drop pod which is great, which spaces wolves are unable to do.
The only reason I can see for taking them would be if you use the thunderstrike formation for CoF, which makes all their guns the turn they come in twin-linked, but you also need to bring a squard of WG terminators

I know combat squads are useful things for obvious reasons. But I just find vanilla marines so boring.
All I was asking is that can space wolves to the alpha strike thing like normal SM marines?
Maybe not with wolf guard but another unit?

Yes, yes they can and best yet we can drop terminators in drop pods without allies.

yes, but with drop pod you can come in with out being grouped together and can still fire to stop the grouping. Also safer where much less likely to mishap.

Ahhhhh I see! What purpose does a terminator have of being relentless? :/
I know this sounds silly... but what advantages (aside from TWC and the flyer transport do space wolves have against normal SM?

Not to mention that our Termies are way more customizable and initially cheaper as well.

way better CC capabilities on Tac equivalents, better first-round assault capabilities with bikers/jump units, more HQ allowances, and a ridiculous CC beat-down unit.

What's the ridiculous cc beat Down unit?? And how would you use the bikers and jump units for the better first round assault capabilities?
Again I'm pretty new to 40k :/ sorry for all the questions haha Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh with the units having rage? Does it not negate from having one less WS and BS?

Thunderwolf Cavalry.
And how would you use the bikers and jump units for the better first round assault capabilities?
They get more attacks on the charge than normal, in exchange for being WS3/BS3 instead of WS4/BS4, they're also cheaper than SM codex equivalents.

Having rage helps them to do really well when they charge into combat, but in my experience they have to do a ton of damage or they're going to be stuck there because their subsequent turns of assault tend to be embarrassing. It's probably best to give them Ulrik or a Wolf Priest to do the heavy lifting and hopefully get them out of combat by the end of your opponent's assault phase.
