Hi all I'm a newish Grey Knights player who bought an Order Hereticus Inquisitor a while back. Since then a new GK codex has come out and he is no longer in it. I have been focussing on building up my GK army last couple of months but recently I bit the bullet and bought the Inquisition Dataslate and my eyes have been opened to the exciting opportunities for Inquisitorial warbands!

I basically would like to build up a suitable warband that would compliment my GK force. I'm thinking something tough that can guard my inquisitor or some units that can shoot a fair distance to backup a very melee focussed GK army.

I understand I can have anything from 3-12 henchmen and would grateful for any advice that people may have, since this is my 1st inquisition force.

Cheers!

A xenos inquisitor with a conversion beamer, some plasma cannon servitors, and a couple of bullet catchers all sitting behind an aegis is a pretty cool fire support unit for GK.

Then there's always the cheesy 2 Dudes and a Psyker in a Chimera format for Maximum-Psychic-Shriek-Warp-Power mode if you want to be that guy...

Specific builds aside though, you want to use your henchmen to do the things that GK struggle with. For me, that means melta. Don't go crazy though - those points add up. I hear jokero are pretty good, but I've never been able to force myself to add space monkies to my super serious space paladins.

I've tried DCA charging out of a storm raven before, and that works pretty well - but it's just not bringing anything to the table that your regular grey knights don't already excel at.

EDIT: Bottom line though - is kit out your squads to do something specific. You don't want to sprinkle in a couple of DCA, a jokero, some melta, etc. I know they tell you you can mix and match all kinds of henchmen in a squad, but it's a bad idea.

Cheers mate that's really helpful!

I think going for specific makes more sense rather than a rag-tag bunch of misfits! I like the idea of the death cult assassins already but had never really considered a Jokero because for some reason I thought they mainly were designed for helping machines e.g. tanks (prob should read the codex better!) I'll definitely look into that.

I've always liked the idea of demon hosts and arco-flagellants, making my army up of crazy anti-demon zealots just for fluff reasons, although I'm not quite sure how useful they really are.

Thanks again!
